The 1996 movie "Fargo" stirred widespread curiosity about snowy winters, funny accents and bloody mayhem on the frozen tundra of North Dakota and Minnesota. The film won two Oscar awards and inspired a popular television series. But how well did it actually capture and reflect the region? We Don't Talk Like That: 'Fargo' and the Midwest Psyche

On December 3rd. 2016, Storymobile pedaled on over to St. Paul's Rondo neighborhood. Inside Pilgrim Church community members gathered together for a greens cook-off. Contestants cooked 13 different kinds of greens to be judged. Attendees sampled each one and awarded one the winner! 

the Urban Farm and Garden Alliance in partnership with The Art of Food in Frogtown and Rondo hosted the cook-off and community meal. Entertainment was provided by Jesses's Heart and Soul Drumming Group, Elite Family dance group, The History Theatre and Spoken Word artist Truth Maze.

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, Storymobile was at Arlington Hills Community Center in St. Paul for their Story Fair. 

This event put on by the St. Paul Public Libraries, celebrated five St. Paul libraries turning 100 years old in 2017.

We collaborated with the public library system and asked State Fair go-ers about their favorite books.

Storymobile is a moveable community engagement space that makes it easy to share, display, collect, and generate our stories. Look for this multimedia, solar-powered roving art space in your neighborhood. This “stories on wheels” is on a bicycle trailer with ready tools—iPads, cameras, microphones, amps, and keyboards, as well as good old paper and pencil—to share and record your stories.

Storymobile expands on the Saint Paul Almanac’s mission of highlighting authentic community stories by providing site-specific workshops, a place to highlight local artists and their materials, a performance space, a running list of current events, and most importantly, a space to submit your story. It is the Saint Paul Almanac on wheels; honoring place, connection, community, and process through the power of story.
