I once went horse riding not far from the Canadian border in Washington State. Cowboy hat, chaps, the lot. The guy in front yanked his horse's reins when it started to eat grass, causing it to kick backwards hitting my horse... which set off at a gallop. Yee ha! Unfortunately, the expedition leader was cross, accusing me of showing off! Nevertheless, it was exhilarating. 

All the guitar parts were played on a Duesenberg Paloma

This track was inspired by the notion of AI becoming conscious. I can't imagine this will happen anytime soon... Having said that, our attempts to understand consciousness in animals suggests that there might be a tipping point, where it simply happens and takes humans by surprise. 
The guitar parts where played on a Fender Telecaster with Texas pickups.

Connecting Source Energy can open our soul to the Angelic Kingdom. Connecting With Source Energy - Archangels ♡ Earth Sun Cosmos (100 Download Limit Reached)

My original intention was to include this track on the Foundation album, but it didn't quite fit... mainly due to its slightly "breathless" quality. I don't often do this but I got a bit carried away with the synth and guitar "wig-out" towards the end. The synth lead was played on a Native Instruments Maschine 2 pad, rather than a keyboard.

Although it is very difficult to estimate the total number of European emigrants, it is thought that from the beginning of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century, around 30 million people left Europe for the United States.

I reworked in the last days on this not particularly original piece, whose first draft is from 2018.

This song began with Stephen, who recorded it on his acoustic guitar and bass to a programmed drum track a few months ago. We were all thrilled to work on it, even though it sat in BandLab as a project for almost a month before Stephen separated the tracks, thus allowing us to trickle in our parts. JJ was first to jump on it, because he could before the tracks were separated, as his part is completely his idea. He added the organ that really set up the entire sound of both dominant sections of the song. 
  Ken was first up to the project once the tracks were replaceable, making the wild, driving beat his own. Inspired by both JPJ and Michael Ivins, Josh laid down his bass line, trying to match Ken's energy. Last, but not least, Mark jumped in with the rumbling timpani. He also added the flavorful harmonica, and unique jaw harp you hear throughout, as well. 
  At that point, Stephen also got the idea to add the hambone percussion at the very end of the song, which we all consider a treat, and after showing us how it's done, Mark volunteered his percussion skills to give it a go. Stephen wasn't done with it, though, and still had some magic to sprinkle. He went in and added the howling electric guitar you hear prominently in the second main section. Also, he added the tempting intro with his acoustic guitar and electric mandolin that looks like a Telecaster guitar. 
  Once it was in the bag, we thought it appropriate for our master mixer Stephen to put it to bed, which he did in his always expert manner. Mark did help with the production, though, as he's very good with editing and spotting mistakes that need to be corrected.
  This is a gift from Stephen to all of us, and you, too. It took a lot of teamwork to make the dream work, as always for Eclectic Collective. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

I hadn't completed this track in time for the Foundation album... but it would have fit well enough, I think.
The lead guitar is a Deusenberg Paloma, using its single coils
The softer harp-like guitar tone is played on a Gibson Memphis 335

Seldon's Dream

The hustle and bustle of the city can seem ordinary in our lives. But sometimes it is worth stopping to see if we have become vain like many famous people. It is important to remain yourself, to remain human in any situation.

Vanity

I felt like this one needed the extra time to unfold and develop in the direction it wanted to go, could be my longest solo piece yet! My songwriting process has moved almost entirely to Ableton Live and I'm find it to be such an inspiring workflow. This is yet another recent track where I'm having fun weaving in the guitar.

I remember submtting programmes for a computer that occupied two lab sized rooms... and waited several days for the result. The pace of change is head spinning, but I'm not sure Ai is going to get conscious any time soon. Haha.

I've been on Soundcloud for six years now and it's been great exploring the work of other artists.  There is so much generosity of spirit on this platform, it's just what you need when most of your music is made solo. 

I started out playing classical and Spanish guitar, then took up flamenco to ease myself away from the confines of musical notation. As a result, Latin rhythms often creep into my music. 

A friend introduced me to steel string and electric guitars just a few years ago and I still find the scope they bring dizzying... but what fun!
