I am not certain how long I had the bass line in the strings saved on my old Gateway Windows XP laptop, but I figured it was about time to give it a bit more form and layers. So I added the piano and drums, which do shape it out fairly well. Maybe will add a solo melody to go over it eventually. 

It's a pretty simple, bare bones sort of piece, which is good, because you can always add on to simplicity to make it more interesting and complex later.

Let's Wait And See

This fanfare was done probably around 1999 or early 2000's, though the timestamp for the MIDI was 2003. The brass on this was trombones, as per being a trombone player. In my early days of composing, I wanted to feature the trombone because it has been in more recent decades a relatively forgotten brass instrument, save for in marching band. But even there, you are likely to see a trumpet as a solo or featured instrument, with the trombone more of a background instrument. So, yeah, with it being my main instrument, I wanted to make music that featured it more.

My favorite types of sounds vary from your classic jazz/rock combos to 808 or 909 bass and drums to toying with chiptunes. Whatever flavor happens to inspire me at the moment of composition, that's what I go with.
