Nick Pape blends down-home country storytelling with the rhythmic edge of hip-hop. Raised between New York City and Toronto-and tempered by two years at college in Oklahoma-Pape first surfaced under the moniker Boy Pape, dropping trap-leaning singles that racked up indie buzz on SoundCloud.
In 2025 he reintroduced himself to the world of country music with the anthemic single "Joe Burrow" (released May 302025 via his
GOODGUYBADIDEA imprint), a twang-kissed tribute to gridiron grit that announced his pivot from rap to roots.
Pape's new material channels the front-porch candor of George Strait, the genre-bending nerve of Breland, and the melodic instincts he honed in hip-hop-swapping 808s for pedal steel without losing an ounce of bounce. Lyrically he leans into blue-collar vignettes drawn from long drives across Ontario highways and Friday-night lights in the American South, while his production fuses maple-sweet harmonies with trap-tight drums.
With a debut country EP slated for late 2025, Nick Pape is positioning himself as Canada's most daring new voice in country-proof that genre lines are just mile markers on the road he's blazing.
