Drumspyder weaves a web of percussive rhythm, melody, and line. Framedrums, tambourines, and  low whistles mingle with bass beats and ethereal atmospheres, bringing the Celtic and British Islands traditional music into vital contemporary expression.

Scott Sterling has always followed the path of rhythm. Over the course of a long journey through diverse forms of drumming and dance music: avant-garde circus, slinky bellydance troupes, and acclaimed bass-music productions, the one constant has been the beat of the drum. 

Over the past several years he has specialised in the realm of framedrums and tambourines. Influenced by modern framedrum masters such as Glen Velez and David Kuckhermann, but also inspired by the rhythms of the Irish bodhran, he follows a distinctive path through the world of contemporary percussion: fusing his experience with cross-cultural framedrum techniques and Arabic rhythms with a new-found love of Celtic dance music. 

To this rhythmic foundation he adds traditional melodies (played on low whistles and various keyboards) drawn from the folk music of Ireland, Scotland, and England , as well as the rich repertoire of Medieval and Renaissance music from the British Isles. 

Out of the alchemy of rhythm, melody, and his long experience in dance music production, he has forged a unique approach to Celtic and Medieval fusion, where elements of trance, bass-heavy electronica, and ethereal atmospheres mingle into an intoxicating brew. His overall ambition is to connect traditional rhythms and melodies with the contemporary dancefloor.

Desert Dwellers is a pioneering electronic music project that bridges the ancient and the future, fusing deep bass, world instrumentation, and psychedelic textures into immersive sonic journeys. Founded in 1999 by Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, the project grew out of the legendary Moontribe gatherings in the deserts of Southern California and Santa Fe, New Mexicos desert rave scene. 

Blending influences from many genres, Desert Dwellers has released dozens of albums and remixes, toured across five continents, and collaborated with an eclectic array of artists from around the world. Their music has graced stages at Symbiosis, Ozora, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Envision, Shambhala, and Burning Man, resonating with audiences through both meditative journeys and powerful dancefloor experiences.

In 2026, Desert Dwellers will enter its most significant evolution yet. Co-founder Amani Friend will be stepping away from touring to focus on studio production and other creative pursuits, while a new collaborator joined the project, acclaimed producer and mixing/mastering engineer Sarkis Mikael. While continuing to honor the project’s signature sound and ethos “Music Beyond Borders,” Desert Dwellers is now expanding into bold new sonic territories. Sarkis, with releases on respected labels like Sol Selectas, Saisons, and Hoomidaas, brings a fresh creative spark and deep musical integrity.

Born and raised in Sandpoint Idaho, Shook Twins are an Indie folk-pop band now hailing from coniferous forested Portland, Oregon. Identical twins, Katelyn and Laurie Shook, Kyle Volkman and Niko Daoussis form the core quartet. Central elements of the Shook Twins' sound are a wide range of instrumentation, including banjo, guitar, electric and upright bass, mandolin, electric guitar, electronic drums, face drum (beatbox), glockenspiel, ukulele, banjo drumming  and their signature golden EGG. Beautiful twin harmonies, layered upon acoustic and electric instrumentation coupled with Laurie’s inventive use of percussive and ambient vocal loops, and Katelyn’s repurposed telephone microphone, set their sound apart, creating a unique and eccentric blend of folk, roots, groove and soul.   

Each Shook Twins song tells a story, distinctive, sharp, genuine, and well – sometimes quirky. Drawing from their life experience, select subjects include, being potters’ daughters, imagined superpowers and a chicken named ‘Rose’ they befriended. Shook Twins also pull out unexpected takes on classic hits, retellings of their musician friends’ songs, heartfelt ballads and rhythm driven dance numbers.   

After releasing their first album "You Can Have the Rest," the twin sisters moved to Portland in December of 2009, conceptualizing their 2011 release "Window" (featuring Bonnie Paine and Bridget Law of Elephant Revival). Both albums were recorded and produced in Santa Cruz, California, at InDigital Studios. Favorable reviews, extensive radio airplay and a busy tour schedule have created an ever growing fan base & kudos from many major musicians. Shook Twins and their full band, including Niko Daoussis (mandolin, electric guitar, vocals), Kyle Volkman (bass), Anna Tivel (violin, vocals), and Russ Kleiner (drum kit, percussion), recently finished recording their third album “What We Do” (releasing 4/8/14) with Grammy nominated producer Ryan Hadlock at Bear Creek Studios as well as partnering and recording an album, with fellow Portland musician Ben Darwish on his epic concept piece, "The Clear Blue Pearl."  

National and regional press accolades have poured in since the April 8th, 2014 release of "What We Do," including USA Today touting, "The Portland, Ore., folk group is ready to rattle the music world with its 'What We Do' album." Acoustic Guitar Magazine says, "'What We Do' is a nearly flawless album that pushes the band into unexplored sonic territory…this is a band that packs a tremendous amount of artistry and talent into their compositions." Eclectic, amusing and whimsical, Shook Twins' laid-back and fun stage presence draws the listener in, allowing them to take the audience away on the adventure that is their live show.
