While pursuing my doctorate in education I was studying with the famous guitarist/author Wolf Marshall. I became interested in the work of Pat Martino, specifically his improvisations on jazz standards. Pat and I became friends over the years, and I have finally been able to publish these through Hal Leonard's Arrange Me service.
I lead, arrange for, and play guitar in a Las Vegas Rock & Soul Revue called the Spectators.

Music Bizz Radio with David Richards is a Radio Show/Podcast that has special guest interviews that are performers and people in the music business at the highest levels of the industry.  The show also has special segments as well as product reviews.  It is hosted by professional musician and producer David Richards.

Charlie began playing clarinet at 8 years old, and guitar at age 10. He started playing jazz guitar at age 18. Charlie believes that music study is a life-long pursuit and  that music education provides the seeds for developing instrumental skills and creativity. The individual musician and his/her outside musical influences determine the overall artist's contribution.  He was blessed to have Billie Holiday's former pianist, Carlton Drinkard,  as a mentor in college while becoming a member of the college's jazz workshop. Carlton introduced him to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and  was asked to sit in at their performance at Stockton State College, Pomona, New Jersey back in 1977.  Although Charlie's professional career was not in the music industry, he never stopped playing when he had the time. Recording and  performing at local gigs are now his focus.

I am about THE LOVE OF LIFE and JAZZ MUSIC gives me the opportunity to express my inner feelings about life. I find that music is a strong HEALING MEDICINE. I hope that you find the same JOY listening to my musical expressions as I do playing those inner expressions for you. I was a close friend of Elvin Jones,John Coltrane and Jimmy Garrison since my early teen years. I lived in Duke Ellington's sister's house, Ruth Ellington. I grew up with Steven Daniel James and Michael James(RIP) and Reggie Golson(RIP) was another childhood friend. I've been around the music for over 55 years and I still play badly and remain a STUDENT OF LIFE!

I’m a guitarist and bassist, originally from the Ohio/West Virginia area. Most of the last 25 years in Minneapolis playing all styles on both instruments.
