This is the classic blues tune by Willie Cobbs based on the song "She's Fine She's Mine" by Bo Diddley. I learned the song from the Allman Brothers. I was always influenced by the Allman's as a kid because of their popularity in Central Florida, the fact they were from the area, and the fact that one of my early teachers, Ted Connor, was their teacher also.

"Fever" is a song written by Eddie Cooley and Otis Blackwell, who used the pseudonym John Davenport. It was originally recorded by Little Willie John in 1956. It has been covered by numerous artists from various musical genres, notably Peggy Lee, Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Nancy Sinatra, The McCoys, The Blues Band, Boney M., Amanda Lear, La Lupe, Madonna, Beyoncé Knowles, Fishtank Ensemble, The Jam, The Cramps, Wanda Jackson, Bette Midler, Michael Buble and Suzi Quatro.

Fever

"Rock Me Baby" is a blues standard that has become one of the most recorded blues songs of all time. When B.B. King's recording of "Rock Me Baby" was released in 1964, it became his first Top 40 hit. It is based on earlier blues songs and has been interpreted and recorded by numerous artists in a variety of styles; Allmusic shows over 2,000 entries for "Rock Me Baby". The tune was also recorded Johnny Winter and Jimi Hendrix.

A few months ago my Pat Martino Benedetto had been in the shop a while so I had to "slum it" with my Gibson Wes Montgomery model L5.
Here is my take on the alternate take of Bumpin' on Sunset.

Made a couple tweaks to this latest version, Erik Miron gets credit for finding the wrong note in my double stops and John Mulhern helped me setup the reverb busses.

Wolf Marshall helped me with the triple stops. You use a "cowboy chord" shape for those.

Diana Krall's arrangement of the tune. Produced by Verve Music Group Chairman David Foster, is spare and somber as she reduces the familiar, harmony-stacked melody to a simple vocal line lightly brushed with piano and rich swells of strings. The pace picks up on the second verse with a smooth bassline and electronic rhythm track that tilts toward bossa nova. There are also distant, hazy backing vocals from Graham Nash. This is my version replacing Diana Krall's vocals with the sound of jazz guitar.

Another track from the Berklee Getting Your Guitar Sound Course I am taking. I played this on a Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery Model through a Rupert Neve direct box into ProTools using the Amplitube plugin. I used the Solid State Clean amp model with just a little reverb and compression.

I became interested in the work of Pat Martino, specifically his improvisations on jazz standards. Pat and I have become friends over the years and I have, with the help from several other people, begun producing a book of transcriptions of Pat Martino’s improvisations on jazz standards that I hope to someday publish.
