Black Rose Familia

Live from the hoods of New York City come the dynamic, bone crushing group, Black Rose Familia. Founded in 1994 by Wil Power (representing the Dominican Republic, Washington Heights and East Harlem) and Cyn Roc (representing Brooklyn, NY), they vowed to always represent the true essence of Hip Hop. In 1997 they were joined by two other artists, sharing the same passion for Hip Hop as they do. These artists are known as Heavy Nova (representing the Dominican Republic, Washington Heights and East Harlem) and Paq Man (representing Puerto Rico, Cuba, The Dominican Republic and Washington Heights. Heavy Nova and Paq Man became the final additions to the Black Rose Familia Movement, expressing their younger and witty flows and styles, balancing out the group giving it immortal potential for success.
The black in the rose itself represents the pain and sorrow in life in the poverty stricken slums around the world. The rose itself represents the beauty and gifts that lie within that pain and sorrow.  The rose blossoming up through the concrete symbolizes uprising through the hardest obstacles in life. Their music is an exquisite blend of Hip Hop, Raggaeton, R&B with a twist of Hard Rock, making them the first group to touch so many genres.

Jemex (David Maldonado) is a  producer hailing from Brooklyn. He discovered music at the age of 13 and soon started piano lessons with a local teacher and participated in music competitions throughout high school. Upon being accepted to New York University in 2002 he took a short break from music to reflect on the next part of life.

Then, in 2006, Jemex met newcomer Dean Gray. (Derrius Clark) Hailing from Detroit, Jemex soon realized that Dean Gray had a voice that needed to be heard and thus they began making music together with amateur equipment and unpolished vocals.

In 2007 Jemex took home the coveted grand prize at New York’s iStandard Producers Showcase where producers in the camps of such industry heavyweights as Timbaland and 50 Cent told the duo to just get your music out there.

By 2008, music lovers around the world were so thirsty for their unique sound that El Fin, the 1st single from their New EP Square 1, was featured on the Forever 21 stores' in-store playlist for the month of January 2009. 

On June 2nd 2009 Jemex/Dean Gray album, Square 1, was released digitally worldwide. Jemex is currently working on new material
