Billy Boyd - The Edge of Night ("The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King" - Soundtrack)

It has taken a lot of time to finish this one, because I wanted it to sound perfect, though it still doesn't sound as good as I would like. Anyway, you know that I try my best :)

As you will hear it is a remake of my old composition "Journey Through the Highlands". I've always loved that song but I felt that its sound quality was not the best. In addition I also wanted to change some things regarding to composing/arranging.

Well, I think everything needed is said here. Just enjoy it!


Journey Through Aran

"Far over the misty mountains cold" by J.R.R. Tolkien depicts the destruction of Thorin Oakenshield's home and his desire to win it back from Smaug. The poem takes the reader through a series of images that were crafted to show the importance of the Lonely Mountain and all that which it contains.
The poem is first sung by Thorin Oakenshield II and the rest of the dwarves in the book and then later in the film version of “The Hobbit”. The dwarves then use the song to evoke strong emotions in Bilbo Baggins.

The Hobbit Main Theme

A few years back, I played and performed one of my favorite themes from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers Soundtrack:   The Rohan Theme.  I used it as a way to test out a new sample library of orchestra sounds, and was pleased with the results.  This is Howard Shore's masterpiece, in a great sounding midi format.   No sheet music was used for this.
