Next up in our mix series is David Fogarty, the mind behind one of our favorite record labels; Transmigration. Born in Ireland, based in Berlin, David follows taste over hype along with careful art direction he’s been responsible for unearthing and reissuing some of the best psychedelic electronic music from the past three decades. David’s reach extends beyond Transmigration with Sacred Stones; a vinyl-only label for his own hand-stamped DJ edits, Crystal Ceremony; a platform dedicated to spotlighting emerging global talent, and Sound Migration; a joint venture with the iconic Sound Metaphors.

In this mix, David showcases his ability to blend nostalgia with futurism - mixing old-school pscyehdelia with contemporary functionalism - crafting a journey that’s as trippy as it is cohesive, filled with dynamic shifts in momentum, tension, and release.

Mariachiara Troianiello, the Italian sound artist behind the moniker Katatonic Silentio, works at the crossroads of electronic music, performing arts and sound studies. Active as a DJ for more than 15 years, her sets adopt multiple forms, fluctuating between an analogue past and a technological, fast-paced future. At times, her sets focus on pure abstraction, consisting of ethereal soundscapes that seek to transcend the tangible through a mix of musique concrète, world, spoken word, ambient or dub. At others, they come across as concrete and club-oriented, crossing techno, broken beats or drum'n'bass.

For MNMT 457, Katatonic Silentio presents this exceptional mix that intricately evolves with subtle and nuanced layers into a delicate yet mind-bending trip of unconventional rhythms and textures. Float into the depths now.

Contributing our latest episode is London’s ANNX, a regular figure within the city’s cutting-edge undercurrent whose many contributions include co-curation of the Whomp, Perspectives, and once-shrouded Magick events, and a residency at the beloved Above Below festival. Anna’s tireless dedication to the scene goes hand-in-hand with her unmistakable talent behind the decks, as evidenced by an impressive repertoire of mixes and set recordings, and which I was fortunate enough to witness first-hand last summer in the Chilterns. Here Anna demonstrates her well-honed craft over the course of two meticulously plotted hours, diving seamlessly into manifold forms of deep, heavy psychedelia before emerging in a wave of euphoric bliss. Sure Thing Mix 141: ANNX

Recorded live at Horoom in mid-March comes this next instalment from Copenhagen representative Martin Gilleshøj. The DJ, co-founder of KUNE music and arts festival, co-founder of Axces Recordings (and their event series), and head at vinyl dispensary Proton Records is a bulwark of the Danish scene. Alongside pals like previous Bassiani Podcast guest Kasper Marott, Søren Kinch and Popmix he’s been key to his city’s cultural offer, blending groovy dancefloor tracks irrespective of narrow genre categorisations with a focus on high-energy nighttime turnouts. It’s a witty spin on clubland fare, iconoclastic and highly danceable stuff that keeps the happy chemicals unanimously flowing. Another plate to spin: he also now runs Buttheads, an intimate club series turned into a record label for the work of selected friends. Through all these outlets, Martin unravels the common thread that binds his work together, laying open a mix of styles and developing something fresh in their coming together. For Bassiani Podcast 261 Gilleshøj flexes his DJ muscles and delivers three hours of wobbly prime time bangers. Fluid, shapeshifting and soulful rhythms, slick selecting flawlessly woven together, a gradual build that perfectly epitomises Horoom’s spirit. This is a sweaty, long haul set from the Danish polymath and clubfloor mischief-maker.

Marius Bø is a figure within the northern hemisphere of the electronic music landscape, his artistry is deeply rooted in a profound connection to nature's atmosphere and the communal spirit of open-air gatherings. As one of the co-founders of the Oslo-based collective Ute, Marius' musical journey finds its origins nestled amidst the Norwegian forests. It is here, between the trees and rustling leaves, that his sound took root, hosting and playing parties deep in the woods. Founded in 2017, the Ute label boasts a cult-like following for its approach to psychedelic trance music as well as long form downtempo and chill out sounds presented on sub labels Sinensis and Translusid. 

Marius’ sets can be seen as a concoction of psychedelic atmospherics, renowned for his extended sets, generating dynamic tensions and sublime releases that work both the body and mind. Mastering different tempos and moods of deep hypnosis, he deftly connects the dots between old school records and futuristic soundscapes. Whether it’s ambient, idm, trance or techno, the Ute label-head seamlessly blends the sounds with a captivating elegance. 
From hazy braindance to high-energy vibrations in mist-shrouded forests, balmy shores and dimly-lit basements, Marius navigates diverse settings with his distinctive musical style that takes a gentle yet firm grip on the soul. 

His unique approach has brought him to iconic venues such as Pawnshop, Bassiani, and Macadam, and to international festivals like Monument in the heart of Norway’s forest, Organik on a hidden peninsula in Taiwan and Outsider Festival, deep in the Australian bush. Whether in intimate clubs or verdant outdoor landscapes, Marius' music carries an organic and trippy spirit that transcends time and space.
