Berlin via Ireland, David has gained a cult following among well educated music fans via his label Transmigration. Following taste over hype along with careful art direction he’s been responsible for unearthing and reissuing some of the best psychedelic electronic
music from years gone by. 

More recently he’s expanded operations to include two new labels - Sacred Stones, an outlet for his own DJ edits; hand stamped and vinyl only as well Crystal Ceremony, a label dedicated to showcasing new talents from around the world. In addition to this he co-runs Sound Migration, a collaboration with Berlin institution Sound Metaphors.

Informed by his love for digging older music as well as his position as buyer for Sound Metaphors, his DJ sets are nostalgic, transcendental and futuristic. Effortlessly combining the best in new and old electronic music. This has seen him play across Berlin’s club
landscape, from the smallest basement clubs right up to the main floor of Berghain.

Next up in our mix series is Voiski. From his Iranian background, Voiski has always been very connected to spiritual music and trance in particular. The element of repetition is ongoing through his catalogue, creating a direct link to his beloved minimalistic classical composers and his roots. Voiski is part of several constellations aside from his main alias, Vrilski (with Vril) and Wav (with Wata Igarashi) to name a few. 

Indulge in this live-set recording by Voiski, immerse yourself in its hypnotic allure of constantly evolving elements and swirling melodies. Expansive psychedelic club music, with an yet precise edge. Voiski weaves layers upon layers, creating a sonic landscape where transcendent melodies shine brightly amidst dynamically shifting arrangements.

Next up in our mix-series is Kaspiann, from the depths of the Helsinki underground. Running the VALA label, performing live, building his own soundsystem and organising parties, he has forged a psychedelic techno sound driven by a DIY attitude and unbound by limitations of tempo, creating a unique holistic musical practice. It’s a multi-sensory ideal which can accommodate his low-speed experiments as much as his fast-paced meditations, whether it’s a steady 4/4 pulse guiding the music or the refracted intrigue of more complex rhythmical structures.

In this episode, Kaspiann takes us on a flawless trip, striking a balance between tough, impactful club sounds and more introspective tones and textures. The mix embodies the spirit of his dual perspective on the thriving clubs of Helsinki and the warehouse and outdoor parties of the underground scene.

Next up in our mix series is the talented DJ and producer, hailing from the blossoming Naarm-scene - Zara. Guided by a profound state of introspection, Zara utilises intricate rhythms and deep atmospheres to draw out expressive qualities in music. Whether it’s IDM, drum and bass, or techno, the Kinesis label-head fuses it all with an enigmatic sense of delicacy. Embracing music production as personal catharsis, she developed a distinct sound at the crossroads of the calm and the energetic. 

In this mix Zara, takes us a journey ranging from peak-time spirits to more mind-leaning energies. Zara showcases how she traverses the polyrhythmic and trippy in innovative ways - blending it psy trance, brainy tek, psychedelic techno and broken syncopated beats. It's a monumental blend of genuine gravity, forging ahead with newfound light.

Ute Mix Series #87 | Zara

Next up in our mix series is Zitto & Zurkin, two central figures and cornerstones in the Tbilisi-scene. Zitto is a resident at Bassiani, and is turning into one of the most intriguing figures for the local clubbing sphere, with his level of selection and world building. Zurkin is another central figure of the Tbilisi community, being the co-founder of Vodkast Records, both an imprint and Tbilisi vinyl oasis for fervid record lovers.

In this episode we are presenting a marathon live recording of their closing set from Bassiani, January 27th. Dive into this 9,5 hour ride, where they navigate between trance and psychedelic techno from the past three decades. Steering seamlessly through rolling chuggers, trippy euphoria and wormhole trance, Zitto and Zurkin are a truly fruitful symbiosis.

Next up in our mix series is our good friend, Aaron J. An esteemed label head, promoter and selector based in New York. Aaron is the founder of Sure Thing, a New York-based label and mix series operating at the boundaries of rhythmic, experimental dance music. As a performer, Aaron is inspired by the complex dialogues that arise between sound and emotion on the dance floor, with highlight appearances including Sustain Release, Monument Festival, and Nowadays. 

In this mix Aaron shows his level of empathy and attention-to-detail are unmistakable, layering, building and driving emotions ever onwards. With a truly unique-, flawless- and warm approach to music, Aarons sound has a true depth that remains in your brain and soul.

Next up in our mix series is David Fogarty, the mind behind one of our favorite record labels; Transmigration. Born in Ireland, based in Berlin, David follows taste over hype along with careful art direction he’s been responsible for unearthing and reissuing some of the best psychedelic electronic music from the past three decades. David’s reach extends beyond Transmigration with Sacred Stones; a vinyl-only label for his own hand-stamped DJ edits, Crystal Ceremony; a platform dedicated to spotlighting emerging global talent, and Sound Migration; a joint venture with the iconic Sound Metaphors.

In this mix, David showcases his ability to blend nostalgia with futurism - mixing old-school pscyehdelia with contemporary functionalism - crafting a journey that’s as trippy as it is cohesive, filled with dynamic shifts in momentum, tension, and release.

 for Sound Metaphors Recordstore. A true gentleman of the scene, a rare breed, and surgical deejay. It was a pleasure having him on at our February party, where this mix was recorded.

@transmigration_records is a Berlin-based record label and archive dedicated to reissuing temporarily lost or forgotten psychedelic electronic music.

Founded in 2022 by Irish DJ David Fogarty, the label has since gathered momentum and recognition for breathing new life into niche catalogues – often forgotten ambient and trance records from the ’90s – through careful restoration and presentation to new audiences.

Like many of the best record labels, Transmigration’s output is reflective of what you might hear in one of David’s DJ sets. Drawing from a wide-ranging record collection, he occupies a unique space that blends the deeper ends of house, techno, and trance, in a way that appeals to both large audiences and hardcore music nerds alike.

We caught up with David to talk shop on the story behind Transmigrations, and what it’s like running an independent label in 2025.
