バーサタイルの一言では表せないほど多様な音楽性を持つ ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U は、多くのD J、音楽玄人から世界最高峰のDJの1人として知られる。DJ Nobu率いるイベントFUTURE TERRORにも出演し、ベルリンで開かれる音楽の祭典アトナルで3年連続プレイを果たす彼の実力は、ユキマツのセットを聴けば容易にわかるだろう。

このスペシャルミックスアルバムは、ユキマツと彼が信頼を置くプロデューサーたちによって奏でられる一つの物語である。すべての音の形と色合いを駆使して、音の無限性が探索された12のトラックは、ユキマツによって構成され、プロデューサー一人一人のメッセージが見事に汲み取られた壮大なストーリー、Midnight is Comin’となった。

アルバムは orhythmo のサウンドエクスペリメント Nagel から始まり、Ryo Murakami のゆっくりと奏でられる弦の音色 Reminiscence、そして Sapphire Slows のリズミカルなスローヘイズ Hinotori に続くのは、DJ Nobuの指数関数的に脈打つ音色 Yakou Gai。 KEIHIN の DMT のようなバーチャル瞑想空間を感じさせる Exhale からのYPY の張り詰めた空気感漂う MS、そして City の穏やかな 9K へと進む。COMPUMA の Flowmotion (DUB) によってワームホールへ吸い込まれ、リバーブが降り注ぐ Coni の Ängelsbäcksstrand に誘導される。そしてGabber Modus Operandi の Kisah（インドネシア語で物語）によって覚醒され、SPINNUTSの超越した曲譜 Zweimal schlafen atmosphäreに繋がる。そして、アルバム最後は Albino Sound による宇宙サウンド Celestial Sphereで締めくくられる。

Versatility does not even come close to describing how the humble Japanese  ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U is considered to be one of the best DJs in the world by many of his peers. From his debut at DJ Nobu’s FUTURE TERROR event to performing 3 years consecutively at Berlin Atonal Festival, Yukimatsu’s sets have to be heard for you to understand.
 
In this special mix album, Yukimatsu gathers round his producer friends to build vessels of the story structure. Threading the pages together, interweaved by friendship and sine waves, he has crafted a masterful presentation from their individual messages. Pulling and stretching all sonic shapes and shades while exploring the farthest reaches of sound, the result is a frequency soup of twelve outstanding tracks that when sequenced together, become part of a greater, grander story: Midnight is Comin’.
 
From the sound art experimentations of orhythmo – Nagel and wide yawning strings in Ryo Murakami – Reminiscence to the rhythmic slo-mo haze of Sapphire Slows – Hinotori and the exponentially pulsing colours from DJ Nobu - Yakou Gai. The DMT-like spacious virtual meditation hall of KEIHIN – Exhale follows the uneasy footsteps of YPY – MS  to the intermissioning chapter of City – 9K. Fall into the wormhole of COMPUMA –Flowmotion (IN DUB) and be transported to the reverb-drenched, intimate experience of Coni – Ängelsbäcksstrand, the primal invocations of Gabber Modus Operandi – Kisah (which also means story in Bahasa Indonesian) to the transcendent notes of SPINNUTS - Zweimal schlafen atmosphäre. The soaring universe of Albino Sound – Celestial Sphere wraps up the album with crystalline notes.

¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U is an unsung talent - the Japanese dj remains arguably one of the best and most influential in Asia and has amassed a cult following from those in the know.

Next month will see his talents celebrated via the release of a specially curated mixtape for Midnight Shift as he showcases music from friends such as DJ Nobu, Ryo Murakami, Gabber Modus Operandi, Sapphire Slows and more.

When first approached about the release we knew it would be simply criminal not to ask him if he might be up for contributing a tape to our own ever growing series. Many a dj's favourite dj he does so in fine style selecting an assortment of wild off piste electronics which bend minds and challenge every pretence or stereotype you might ever have known of dance music.

Running through techno, ebm, wave and noisy cuts he delivers a set of wild fluid music which shouldn't fit together but somehow does.

This is a masterclass.

Homage : Kraftwerk (German pronunciation: [ˈkʁaftvɛʁk] ⓘ, lit. 'power plant') are a German electronic band formed in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. Widely considered innovators and pioneers of electronic music, Kraftwerk were among the first successful acts to popularize the genre. The group began as part of West Germany's experimental krautrock scene in the early 1970s before fully embracing electronic instrumentation, including synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders. Wolfgang Flür joined the band in 1973 and Karl Bartos in 1975, expanding the band to a quartet.

Best Dance Godfathers

On commercially successful albums such as Autobahn (1974), Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), and Computer World (1981), Kraftwerk developed a self-described "robot pop" style that combined electronic music with pop melodies, sparse arrangements, and repetitive rhythms, while adopting a stylized image including matching suits. Following the release of Electric Café (1986), Flür left the group in 1987, followed by Bartos in 1990. The band released Tour de France Soundtracks, their latest album of new material, in 2003. Founding member Schneider left in 2008. The band, with new members, has continued to tour under the leadership of Hütter.

The band's work has influenced a diverse range of artists and many genres of modern music, including synth-pop, hip hop, post-punk, techno, house music, ambient, and club music.[1] In 2014, the Recording Academy honoured Kraftwerk with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.[2] They later won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album with their live album 3-D The Catalogue (2017) at the 2018 ceremony. In 2021, Kraftwerk was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the early influence category.[3] As of 2024, the band continues to tour,[4] with the members' live performances celebrating Kraftwerk's fiftieth anniversary.[5]
