The Frost Bloom, flourishes in close proximity to the ancient "Gelidrial Stones." These mystical stones, scattered throughout the heart of the Swomp, emit a faint, soothing hum, resonating with the natural energies that awaken the Frost Bloom during the winter months. Seekers should navigate towards the subtle melody of these stones, for their proximity marks the sacred grounds where the elusive flower reveals its breathtaking beauty. Magín y la música de cimarrona fue invisible al perfil cultural del país desde la Colonia, pasando por la posterior agenda política centralista del siglo XIX hasta la última década del siglo XX, razón por la que solo es posible rastrear Rosa a partir del relato oral y una escasa documentación. La primera versión grabada en Colombia aparece en el LP Raspacanilla (1983) de Los Soneros de Gamero. Esta grabación adjudicó la composición a Irene Martínez, quien –según varias fuentes– no componía. Su comadre Emilia Herrera aseguraba que: «Irene no es compositora, todos los temas de Irene son de las bullerengueras viejas». Al año siguiente Totó la Momposina grabó Rosa en Colombia: Musique De La Côte Atlantique (1984) y acreditó la composición a Emilia Herrera. Probablemente por error, pues Emilia nunca reclamó su autoría. De ambas vertientes se populariza el tema en dos mercados distantes –aunque su raíz es indiscutiblemente Gamero y más concretamente, Magín Díaz–. Por un lado, la Rosa de Los Soneros de Gamero logra calar en circuitos costeños y se convierte en la fuente de versiones de mayor conquista comercial a nivel nacional como las de Joe Arroyo (1994) y Carlos Vives (1995), quien la hace conocida en toda Latinoamérica. Por otro lado, la versión de Totó la Momposina lleva Rosa a los circuitos del mercado world music en Europa.

Sin embargo, en la investigación de este montaje creativo encontramos que el dato científico de fechas de composición, grabación y nombre del compositor se remonta a principios del siglo pasado.  Aparece un texto que reseña una versión de Rosa, qué linda eres en 1918 en la que canta María Teresa Vera en el grupo Sexteto Habanero Godínez. Dicha grabación se lanza en 1920 pero los libros contables de la disquera están perdidos, al igual que la canción (datos provistos por el catálogo de Víctor en DAHR). Aunque hay versiones cubanas posteriores, Rosa no es una pieza popular en el auge de la música afrocubana en el mundo desde el siglo XX.
Su grabación en la década de 1920 había sido olvidada y se redescubre solamente a partir de la redición de archivos antiguos. Por lo tanto, la preservación de Rosa en la tradición oral del Caribe colombiano se debe a Magín Díaz. A Magín se le atribuyó la composición, pero su labor va mucho más allá del mito. Es un cultor anónimo cuyo poder radica en manchar, como un collage, las subjetividades latinoamericanas y convertirlas en un discurso oral que reescriba la historia musical. Su memoria pudo preservar un repertorio valioso, cantar Rosa para un amor no correspondido desde la infancia, culti- varla durante toda su vida y, desde la ilegítima clandestinidad, entregársela al mundo entero a través de Carlos Vives y Totó la Momposina.
La presente versión en chalupa reúne a Magín Díaz, Carlos Vives y Totó la Momposina. En otras palabras, agrupa, según la tradición oral de Gamero, al cultor original de Rosa –la mancha en el impoluto lienzo de la historia mu- sical–; al artista que la popularizó en los mercados radiales y discográficos de Latinoamérica; y a la cantadora que la posicionó en los circuitos culturales internacionales en Europa. Tres generaciones que hicieron de Rosa una pieza indiscutible de la identidad colombiana. Esta versión habla de un pasado imaginado, es un collage de relatos distantes en una tierra del olvido en la que, como lo canta Carlos Vives: «Magín con su humilde prosa de la mujer se inspiró, su Rosa se hizo famosa y la plata nunca vio».
