Hailing from the legendary underground nightclub Fu Bar in Auckland NZ, Cern (aka Ollie) has been putting out records for nearly 15 years, a body of work which has grown into a diverse and varied collection of solo and collaborative releases.

Cern is known for his brooding productions which evoke a visceral response in the listener through their texture and tension.

With two LPs to his name, ‘Terminus’ (2011, Project 51/Uprising) and ‘Under Another Sky’ (2014, Dispatch Recordings), Cern has also released music on labels including Renegade Hardware, Commercial Suicide, Samurai Music, 31 Records and many more. He has also collaborated with artists such as DLR, Jubei, Loxy, Sabre, One Mind, Concord Dawn & Nymfo.

Now living in Melbourne, Cern has been slowly putting together new material, while also exploring other forms of electronic music influences. Expect some new releases in the coming months.

Launched by Ruffhouse and Gremlinz in 2015, UVB-76 Music has established itself as a leader in the field of underground sonic art, releasing a markedly consistent series of 12” singles, EPs and LP's.

With an intimidating stable of key recording artists including Ruffhouse, Gremlinz, Pessimist, Holsten, Overlook, Outer Heaven, Karim Maas, Clarity and VEGA appearing at events worldwide, UVB-76 Music has articulated a cohesive original sound matched to a visual identity created and curated by artist James Hewitt.

The label continues to operate at the cusp of identification playing a line between Drum & Bass, Techno and an unidentifiable mid-way. As consistent as its namesake, echoing covert communications and unspoken espionage.

Under the UVB-76 Music umbrella, curated by Vega and Overlook emerges The Stone Tapes, a new medium for residual recordings documented in static matter. Built on the intellectual foundations 19th century paranormal theory the label purports a belief that within sound can be located an audio apparition, an intent and carried feeling. In essence transmuting a specific moment into vinyl observable only at playback. An ideological limestone soaking up and releasing intent.

Imprinting on the psychic ether a distinctly deadened ambience, The Stone Tapes elicits ideas that even today lurk on the fringes of experience, considered heretical by some, while held foundation by the initiated.

From UVB-76 Music’s fractal personnel rises Karim Maas. A familiar face behind a new mask, Maas, one of the sonic panjandrums at the core of the labels sound creates aural experience that bleeds between genre and tone with striking ease.
