¨Dronette for the End of Time¨ is a bit different to my other postings.  This is an all-acoustic number, made with steel-string acoustic guitar, recorder and singing voice (all multi-tracked), plus one track of a short spoken-word phrase.  The only processing was some pitch shifting on the multi-tracked parts, and turning up the treble on the singing to bring out the harmonics.  I was inspired in this by Tibetan sub-harmonic chanting.  The sinister sounds near the end are downward-pitch-shifted sharp intakes of breath, when I ran out of air in singing the longest notes I could. 

Dronette For The End Of Time

This is the most gentle, most ambient, most minimal piece I have ever made.  

Two notes on the title:  (i) ¨Thea¨ is an ancient Greek word for Goddess, and appears in the opening line of the Iliad of Homer; (ii) ¨Of all the stars, you are the most beautiful¨ is a fragment of text from the Greek lyric poet Sappho.
