Then in middle school I discovered my chemical romance and green day. Midwest emo rap and hip hop. 50 cents first 2 albums were the first rap albums I heard in like 6th grade, probably played them 600 times. The whole dj screw Houston scene. Andre 3k. Three6. I first heard Eminem’s first album in elementary, that shit inspired me. Then I discovered mixtape and codeine era lil Wayne and scoured limewire to find everything he ever made. Around that time I fell in love with the autotuned vocals of him and Tpain. 9th grade I listened to epiphany the first time and it changed my life.

gucci mane can be sited as my favorite rapper from 2003-2010.

I saw lil Wayne’s documentary short after and learned about his recording process and said, that’s going to be me. Then I found out about Midwest emo and screamo music, that was a phase, that lasted a long time, I really liked chiodos, blessthefall, alesana, etc.

Then as a sophomore I found out about curren$y and i only listened to him. His story truly inspires me. Not just the jetLife movement, but how he turned down working with young money and chartered his own venture. How lucky he was to grow up learning from Master P. New Orleans truly inspired me. I hope to visit some day and meet them.

My favorite “SoundCloud era” artist is lil peep. 🪽
