Yup, WOOD label owner Main Leaf up on next on our silly imprint. This is another edition of thunderdome folks. The way we like it.  Remix-wise we got served up Global Undergrounds' very own Arturo Hevia delivering a proper proggy and trippy remix here, meanwhile- Danny Oliviera (Not Another, Brazil) is taking it to another universum with his remix on the flipside. On top we got the Malbetrieb bonus mix, a one-take hardware only live-jam recorded on a rainy sunday-afternoon. Quirkyness all over. A pretty proper package if we may say so ourselves.

Kuukou has seen a whirlwind of releases since its inception and sets off its new series “Passengers”. Welcoming newcomers and virtuosos alike, the series brings together spellbinding tracks coming from various artists brought together by the same key element: straight-up techno. 

John Haden & Monococ kick off proceedings with “Volcano”, a track that’s quick and steady, setting the pace from the first bar. With a stripped down overall aesthetic, strong percussion takes centre stage, joined by a playful yet solemn melody.

“Canyon Voice”, an offering by Romanian electronic forerunner Horace Dan D., dives in swiftly with a heavy bassline and distorted chops. Distorted vocals add extra zest, while keeping the focus on the beat.

Overloque’s „Voodoo“ provides a dose of progressive techno vibes. With a solid pace and a dark undertone, it makes for a great slice of jagged rawness.

Frequency-hunter duo Jägerhertz deliver a morcel of high-energy techno. “Ikon” is fast paced and balances undulating synths with airy pads that are bound to set the floor on fire.

With a subdued ambiance and muted chords, newcomer Aetius Boutefoy with “Issho”, an aerial bit of deep tech. Avian sounds combined with tribal loops, married with wind instruments induce a sense of industrial-nature unison, creating a breezy atmosphere.

The emotional, cosmic sound of Drahte makes its debut on Loot Recordings with a four track EP of deep, melodic techno that includes a powerhouse remix by Rafael Cerato.

Drahte are an electronic duo based in Naples who don’t say much, but instead like to offer you a trip in a musical form. Their infectious, deep, beautiful sound is from the heart and makes an emotional impact. 

The title track “Virgo” is a dramatic and rolling tech cut with heavy drums. The synth work adds a sombre vibe and the chords gently roll up and down the scale, hooking you from the start. The Rafael Cerato remix is a stripped-down version and takes on a more driving and deep vibe. Lovely wooden hits help power things along, as do some muffled vocals, but it’s the emotive strings and moody synth leads that own the show here.

“Two Stars” is a turbulent track with edgy chords that pan throughout the track, with heavy drums, crisp claps and a real melodic arrangement that adds to the dynamism of the track. Closing the EP is “Cosmo” that’s atmospheric and deep, sprinkled with spaced out keys, chaotic chords and intriguing breakdowns.

Aaron Dish - Keep It Coming (Original Mix)

The latest release on Antrim's Or Two Strangers imprint finds the label showcasing the first instalment of its 'Strangers' series. These Various Artists showcases will  be region specific and focus on the freshest electronic music talents. The inaugural instalment of the series explores one of Argentina's most talent rich regions Cordoba. Featured on the release in order of appearance are: Claudio Cornejo, Antrim & Analog Jungs, Ezequiel Arias, Berni Turletti and Some Little Things. 

Now considered a veteran of the Argentinean scene, Claudio Cornejo leads the collection off with 'Distention'. Also known as one half of Analog Jungs, the Argentine sets the mood for the release with a deep and poignant creation. Full of vibrant tones, ethereal vocals and aquatic designs it's a wondrous nine minute journey for the heart and mind. It's smooth storyboard and effortless approach are perhaps it's strongest suits, making it ideal for a sunrise set or seaside listening. 

Next up Or Two Strangers label boss Antrim teams up with Analog Jungs for the ultimate meeting of Cordoba's finest progressive minds. The tempo and energy comes up nicely as waves of bass ripple and bubbly motifs bounce off a strong rhythmic core. A sizzling break brings further fuel to the fire, preceding a dynamic drop and wonderfully wonky conclusion. 

Moving forward, Ezequiel Arias makes his much anticipated label debut with 'No Paranoia'. Past releases on Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records have been critically acclaimed and this is perhaps his most sought after work to date. Deeply hypnotic, with both progressive house and techno sensibilities, it melds genres wonderfully. An array of stunning effects advance the storyboard, with rolling drums, timely drops and haunting pads delivering great moments along the way.

Also making his label debut is Hernan Cattaneo favourite Berni Turletti who has already made his mark on the progressive house underground with releases on Movement Recordings and One Of A Kind. His latest entitled 'To Feel In The Distance' comes with a chunky groove, sparkling percussion and melancholic motifs. A short but timely break ups the emotive sensibility, all while keeping the heady, meditative qualities intact. 

The release concludes with another label debut from well known Argentinean duo Some Little Things. Leandro Moyano & Matias Medina make up the Some Little Things production team and also have a meticulous discography, highlighted by an appearance on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Here they close the release out in style with a deep, emotive number aptly titled 'Feelingly'. Smooth, warm and playful best describe this summery gem while cascading motifs seal a magnificent third act. A wonderful beginning to the 'Strangers' series which is must have for the true progressive house connoisseur.
