Francisco Franco are a trio originating in Philadelphia, playing instrumental music for two guitars, bass, and electronic rhythm tracks. The group started as a duo of Rob Francisco (who plays solo industrial noise as M Ax Noi Mach) and Matt Franco (from Allentown noise group Air Conditioning), who wanted a creative outlet for more melodic, less abrasive musical modes. After recording some demos, they added Nate Davis (who also plays as Unchained) on bass, and began composing songs of simple guitar lines intertwining over the bass’s harmonic foundation. Influences such as the first Microdisney LP, The Durutti Column, and 70s library records may be heard, but crowds at recent shows have made comparisons as diverse as Neu! and Dick Dale. This is new wave elevator music: melodic, minimal, and extremely listenable. Two cassettes of demos have been released by Silvox Recordings, and their debut LP is out November 12th on Matt Mondanile’s New Images Limited label.

For Trushmix 226 we got Brand in the mix. The Oslo based DJ and producer, and also working at Filter Musikk record store in Oslo. Keeping the vinyl spirit alive for all the underground DJ's in Norway.

Brand has released on Sunlab and the Oslo based label HMD, and is also a designer for the Montreal based label Dustworld.

Here he has done a one hour mix end 90's early 00 house and techno, all records he has been digging in the vast creates of Filter Musikk. This is a live recording he has done at Panu in Oslo, where Brand has his residency.

'Lifetime of Love' is the debut album by Moon Diagrams, the solo recording project of Deerhunter co-founder and drummer Moses John Archuleta. Recorded in Georgia (Atlanta and Athens) and Manhattan (East Village) over a 10-year period, 'Lifetime of Love' finds Archuleta processing various stages of love, loss, and regeneration via forlorn outsider pop, minimal techno, and warm, weightless experimentation.
 
Archuleta follows sudden fits of inspiration or moments of chance, letting the unknown happen naturally while still confining himself to a specific set of boundaries. Samples were often taken from thrift store-sourced LPs, removed from their sleeves and chosen at random to find loops and textures. Elsewhere, Archuleta would anonymize digital songs and sound files, erasing track names, and re-recording new versions of the randomized mixes.

'Lifetime of Love' is the result of three extended fugue states, each marked by specific moments of catharsis. In 2007, between the release of Deerhunter’s breakout LP Cryptograms and 2008 LP Microcastle, Archuleta began his earliest solo experiments. The nascent exploration was enough to free himself and create sounds without inhibition. “Bodymaker” and “Nightmoves” are products of Archuleta’s earliest solo recordings, capturing his willingness to venture outside of the taut, mesmerizing drone rock of his main band. The chilling, ambient techno of “Nightmoves” perfectly foils and compliments the broodingly sullen but sincerely beautiful shuffle into the dark.
 
Between 2012 and 2015, Archuleta experienced a reset of sorts, including the collapse of his marriage (a 10-year long relationship), touring support for Ariel Pink and James Ferraro, and a rekindled interest in his solo material. He began actively cutting himself off from a number of personal relationships and experimented with various drugs to begin recording again. Locking himself in his practice space, Archuleta would use only the spare instruments he found laying around in recording sessions. This period yielded a disparate mix of sonic sketches, from eerily bucolic choir recordings (“Playground”), dusty art-pop (“Moon Diagrams”), and infectiously jubilant dance pop (“End of Heartache”).
 
For the final period, Archuleta found inspiration following an extended stint in Berlin, when he had flown out of the US on Christmas day, largely estranging himself from his friends and family. While holed up in the Michelberger Hotel, Archuleta fully intended to finish his debut LP. Instead, he remained in a state of relative isolation, haunting the hotel and taking in the city’s dark energy. After three weeks, Archuleta returned home in Atlanta, without having made much headway on the album. Feeling unproductive, depressed, and marred by jetlag, Archuleta resolved to finish the LP, working in a three-day fury of productivity that resulted in “Blue Ring,” “Ghost and the Host,” “Magic Killer,” and the final edits of 'Lifetime of Love.'
 
Subtly grandiose and quietly epic, the album explores a hopeful and curious beginning, a morose middle, and a bittersweet, optimistic end.

Bearing Constructions — raw functional techno, inspired by the releases of the label Dystopian and conceived as a DJ tool.

At first glance, the composition seems monotonous, but in fact each element here is metamorphosed by several layers of modulations, and sounds are been extracted without the use of synthesizers in the usual sense of the word.

The sound sources were field recordings of trolleybus, microwave, boiler, refrigerator and other creaking and noisy objects.

The velvet framing of elements, that are extracted by the method of granular synthesis, was done on the legendary Solid State Logic 4048E/G console at the subgroups mixing step and mastering.

Bearing Constructions

I was conceived to write a track in the ambient style for a long time. In the working process of noise modulations with the help of my Max MSP patches, I was fascinated by the resulting loop, and saw the picture in my mind of empty house, somewhere in the wasteland, where there are no people.

This house is connected to solar panels or something like that, it's autonomous. Long time ago there lived a man, who when leaving, forgot to turn off the loop on the sequencer. Humanity is already extinct, but the loop continues to sound.

Maybe it's from my dreams to have my own house, or the desire to leave something after me. I do not know exactly. So, such a track turned out.

Unmanned House, Unstopped Loop

I think that in the world of a market persons ceases to be themselves, and becomes farfetched, because we turns into products, which is wrapped into a beautiful photos and correct wording.

In this composition, the field recordings that I have collected on trips are wrapped in effects, and automated by my Max for Live plugins that modulate the sound and make the noise musical.
