I remember sharing the demo for “Poster Boy” with my friend, Jesse Carmichael (formerly of Wildcat! Wildcat! and now, Kid Nobody), and having him praise it for its “throwback-y, playful, Queen-ness.” Needless to say, that’s one of the reasons I chose him to co-produce it with me, alongside singer-songwriter, Andy Davis. Much of my original demo made it into the final production, including my electric guitar solo and Beach Boys-style background vocals. Originally, the chorus was: “I’m just a poster boy, whether I like it or not,” commentating on how the evangelical church culture I grew up in held me up to this impeccable, “golden child” status. But the moment I switched from a defeated to a defiant tone with: “I’m not a poster boy,” the song wrote itself. As one of my 2020 single releases, it has quickly become a fan favorite. It also won Honorable Mention in the 24th Annual USA Songwriting Competition.

This Halloween marks the 2nd anniversary of my song, "Die Young!" It recently became my top song across all platforms, and so to celebrate all that this song has come to mean to YOU and to me, I decided to mix it up! I rly love what my friend, Parker (aka demotapes), did with this track to keep the sentiment of the original, but bring a WHOLE new kind of energy! Hope you guys enjoy this re-imagined version!
