For the labels first release of 2022, Idlestates have curated a blend of no-nonsense EBM with grittier industrial electronics. The 13 track VA compilation welcomes a host of new artists to the label whilst continuing to showcase returning favourites such as Meshes, Magnum Opus, and MVQX. The album titled ‘The Semiconscious System’, arrives with several dancefloor ready anthems whilst allowing a meltdown through intervals of raw industrial sludge.

Spheres is the first in a series of “documents” by Research, which intends to unite a diverse selection of artists around a common theme. The inspiration for this initial document comes from artist and mathematician Timothy Cresswell, whose carving of spheres covered in mathematical figures – a holistic, meditative process he refers to as “tuning” – has taken place for over fifty years and has inspired the art direction of his son Daniel. 

The leadoff track “Radon” from These Hidden Hands – the production duo of Tommy Four Seven and Alain Paul – does so with a red-toothed yet synthetic menace and with percussive patterns like an artillery barrage. Mondkopf then dials back the aggression somewhat for his piece “The Runaway,” yet keeps the sense of transformative tension running high with sculpted static, nervous Geiger counter ticking and majestic layered synths. SNTS closes out the A-side with the appropriately named “Dunkelheit,” a slow and steady audio journey – complete with dramatic pauses – through black rains and monolithic structures used for ritualistic purposes. The B-side opens with Oake’s “Blemmyae,” a slowly unfurling mass of audio fog whose hypnotically austere rhythm track – almost entirely composed from a single martial snare hit and a punishing digital bass drum – is used as bait to lure listeners into a force field of precisely interwoven drones and doppler-effect mayhem. Headless Horseman sustains this atmosphere with a club track for an alien homeworld: a dense mixture of shuddering / shattering percussion, imperious synth swells and crackling bursts of raw electricity. Grebenstein’s “Meet My Needs” delivers the final statement for this particular document, utilizing carefully segmented white noise and synthesized pulmonary sound as the basis for an ascension to uncharted mental realms.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Years Of Denial.  Directed by Unn, “Life Is A Theater” is a stunning video work which uses architecture, the human form and more to convey the artist’s powerful message. Modular Mind is a label that provides a platform to help demarginalize artists that are expressing themselves within the boundaries of counterculture. The label always makes a statement with artists showing a side that is true to them and themselves.

The label's 9th installement; [MM05] Human Tragedy mini-LP by Years of Denial is no exception to their ethos. Here we can find some of YoD's most expressive work, a conceptualized statement from start to finish, holding the torch of what has been described as a lost doctrine (reporting the extreme parallels of the human condition). The duo's work on MM05 holds the users hand and shows them a window overlooking a peculiar world, void of perversion.

Modular Mind showcases this work in full by presenting a beautifully crafted 180g marbled vinyl, a strictly limited edition 60-page art booklet, and lastly a combination of body art expression and masterful envisioned video directive premiered here at The Brvtalist.

After an annum of repose, London-based and industrial-clique-doted Depth.Request offers to consideration what's promised to be the first volume in a series titled Hostile Responses & Provocations. Boasting an international lineup, this post-punk, EBM-leaning VA release revolves predominantly at a pace of 135 BPM and features occasional outbursts of indiscernibly distorted lyrics throughout its six rough-hewed, distinctly industrial cuts. 

The plate's penultimate suggestion Never Be Silent sees NX1 participant Samot coming well to his own through the use of quartertime-turning-halftime kicks, dirty bass sheets, eerily exhaling stabs, elongated shrills and other percussive arrangements forged seemingly of sheer noise conditioned to occupy higher ranges.
