EKATA is a London based DJ/Producer & Natural Selection Resident whose productions are characterised by their dark, haunting and atmospheric soundscapes, driven by pulsating rhythms and intricate synth work. She is heavily inspired by sci-fi films and the ability to tell a story, which is apparent in all of her mixes and productions.

EKATA is self-described as genre and sound obsessive and has built a reputation as a huge advocate for Electro and it's core roots.Her perfomative sound best personifies dystopian, ominous grooves and obvious sci-fi fixations which embody her carefully picked selections.

Hypnotic Groove Mix #424 - EKATA

Hydroz (aka Hydraulix) is the Miami Electro Bass outfit consisting of AshRock & JimiTheGenius. Together they have been releasing music since the early 2000’s and continue to push their sound till today. Drawing from their childhood influences (2 Live Crew, Debonaire Records, Cut It Up Def Records, MC A.D.E, Dynamix II, etc) to create their own unique hybrid.

With 20+ releases on labels like Kuad, Touching’ Bass, Monotone, Frite Nite, Zone, etc - and currently working on new material set to be released later this year, including a new track in this mix.

As a child of the 80’s Commuter was Inspired by all electronic music he could find; ranging from acid house, EBM, Synthpop, Electro, Rap/Hiphop, New Beat,House, Italo, early Techno and with a particular passion for Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk.

Since his recording debut in 2004 with the song ‘Electrostate of Mind , you can find his music on labels like : Zone, Cultivated Electronics, Skryptöm, Elektrofon, Bass Agenda, AFU Limited, Space Factory, Goog, Citizen and BoysNoize records.

Over the years, he has had the opportunity to remix various artists including Miss Kittin , John Lord Fonda, Captain Mustache or Nomenklatür, and to collaborate on the Roentgen EP with The Hacker.

In 2023 Commuter will be back with new music, so watch this space …..

ParallaX 003 | COMMUTER

Lee Cee started playing vinyl in 1997 and has always brought an eclectic sensibility to her sets, with varied taste in genres but mostly Acid, Electro and Techno.
She began her journey on the Free Party scene and as well as her hometown club, the legendary Club 69 in Paisley in 2002. Lee has played alongside legendary selectors such as DJ Pierre, Nightwave, Co-Accused, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and Jerome Hill.

Lee has also been a resident for Tech-Know Radio on Glasgow’s Groove City station since 2019 and is well known for her diverse and infectious style, and an old school, intuitive approach to her all vinyl sets.

For this ParallaX mix the northern selector has, as always, graced us with a Vinyl only mix.

Lee wants to Shout out to Ara-U's new EP "No Future" on Co-Accused's label (CR003) which is out early August, there's a couple of tracks on this mix from it.

Hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, Grow (@adamgrow) is a renowned producer and DJ who embarked on his musical journey in the early 1990s. Founder of CHP Recordings in 2007, his debut vinyl release, "Electronik Milk," gained significant recognition within the electro community. Additionally, Grow co-founded the band Ohverclock alongside Kounterakt from Code Rising, resulting in multiple album releases. Grow's distinctive style encompasses cleverly processed vocals, powerful basslines, and haunting synthesizer elements. CHP Recordings has been ramping up production tenfold as of late adding new artists to their roster, and celebrating repeated success on the Beatport electro chart. Chris Roman, aka 214, has a habit of getting lost in his studio, which happens to be tucked into the same mystical foothills as the David Lynch town of Twin Peaks, a location whose presence looms across much of Roman’s audio narrative, deftly playing foil to his creative heritage as a Miami native grounded in that area’s electro scene. 

Since his production debut in 2002 Roman has cultivated a substantial discography of future dance floor thump and heady sci fi vapors with releases on notable labels such as Frustrated Funk, Klakson, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Shipwrec, 20:20 Vision, and Touchin Bass. He's also appeared on three Fabric compilations, including an exclusive track commissioned for Steffi’s highly lauded Fabric 94 mix. 

Though clubs all over the world have hosted 214’s hardware-heavy live sets,including 3 performances at acclaimed Berghain, he’s also known for working dance floors with dexterous precision for anyone lucky enough to catch him behind the decks.  

214’s upcoming projects include EPs for Frustrated Funk and a Science Cult V/A.

The international electro and techno producer community has come together to raise money for two charities doing vital health work during the Covid crisis - NHS Charities Together and Médecins Sans Frontières.

The project began in April this year. The resulting release is an essential compendium of techno and electro featuring some of the most respected creators working in the genre including The Hacker, Radioactive Man, Anthony Rother, Delta Funktionen, John Selway, Carl Finlow, Kronos Device, and more than 120 more!
