Asad Rizvi aka Silverlining has been a constant source of inspiration to me since the 90s - his solo releases & remixes, along with various monikers alongside other brilliant artists, such as Two Right Wrongans with Nathan Coles, have featured in my sets for almost three decades. This mix covers a broad range of his work, recorded in one take all one vinyl, aside from his remix of me which is forthcoming on my Dragon Parade label. That one was burned to CD & played via my old CDJ100! The vinyl for that release will be ready later this year. Hej! I am starting my monthly mix series with this. I can honestly say it’s the most fun I’ve had playing music in years. As I dig, I’m always noting tracks ‘that go’ in my digital library. The playlist that formed the basis of the mix (along with many others) had been cultivating for months. With some last-minute additions and some late-night inspiration, I just pressed record and everything seemed to slot into place.
It crosses everything I love: Disco, Acid, New Wave, Trax, Tribal and the deep. 
 As with my DJ gigs, I tend to make a track specifically to play for each one, that nine times out of ten will never see the light of day. This series will embody some of that fun… see if you can spot the demos?

This mix series will be an audio diary for me, a way to look back with great detail at my musical life. It will draw from the Past, Present and Future as I endeavour to tie time together.

About Franck Roger:

Based in Paris, Franck started his career as a producer in 1999, signing with prestigious labels such as STRAIGHT UP RECORDS, MASTERS AT WORK, DEFECTED RECORDS, and many others.

His remixes for renowned artists like Roy Ayers and Blaze quickly propelled him onto the international stage.

In 2005, he founded his own label, Realtone Records, where he has promoted both emerging and established talents such as Maya Jane Coles, The Martinez Brothers, Larry Heard, Joe Claussell, and many more, thus helping to shape the musical landscape of house music. 

Franck has also recently signed a mountainous treasure trove of new material with Vibe Me To The Moon Records, many of which will be heard for the first time ever here in this podcast mix!

Doodle Mix Series # 77 - Chris Duckenfield

Vibe Me To The Moon Records is about bringing fresh inspiration to house music's most authentic foundations. From deep to tech to soulful, the label launched in New York City in 2017 and has since worked with a careful mix of esteemed talents from around the world. Music from founder Nightsteppaz provides the backbone while early hits alongside Roland Clark and further releases from French house royalty Franck Roger, US mainstays Joseki, Mr V and DJ Spinna and minimalists Robert Babicz and Mihai Popoviciu soon turned the heads of those that know.

Nightsteppaz is a drummer, guitarist and producer whose vision for the label was formed while growing up in 90s New York when classic boom-bap hip-hop soundtracked the streets and house innovators like MAW and Kerri Chandler dominated the clubs. The core foundations of those scenes and styles are what define the sound of Vibe Me To The Moon Records: well swung drums with lush pads, potent kicks with soulful vocals and grooves that work mind, body and soul, all with impeccably high production standards and the sort of real musicality that transcends the dance floor.

The label's first release set a high standard from the off as Nightsteppaz & Roland Clark collaborated on the timeless 'The Energy Of The Room'; a deep and smoky sound with conscious vocals that lock you into a heady vibe. A follow up tune from the pair, 'God Was In The Speakers' again joined the dots between the past, present and future of house and since then there have been sparking dub house rollers like the Fred Everything Remix of Franck Roger & Shawn Chapelle's 'Enchanted', chunky, heavy deep house jams like Dirty Culture's 'Too Long Time' and more pumping and peak time tech workouts from Bushwacka!.

All this has made Vibe Me To The Moon Records a go-to for DJs and dancers looking for authentic, fad-free sounds. After plenty of high-profile DJ support and global radio airplays for recent releases, many more are planned for 2025 as Nightsteppaz's label becomes an ever more prominent voice in the global house conversation.
