"Jakobin & Domino (Large Music / Luv Shack), the Austrian duo known for their bleary eyed house tracks return to Colour in Music with a stunning two track EP, with Coeo and Will Berridge on remix duties.

'Static Tides' is clearly the more dreamy and intense original on the EP. Its slowly building pad and stab theme is nicely complemented by delay drenched vox.

Coeo (Toy Tonics / Let's Play House) deliver a remix for 'Static Tides' that is bereft of classic house themes, stripping the original to its bare essence and turning it into a late night techno track with a pinch of jazz.

Will Berridge (Save You / Manucci's Mistress) also remixes 'Static Tides' with the help of his AKAI tape machine. The result is a moody and organic house track that has a gritty warehouse feel to it.

Last track from their EP, 'Let's Talk About', a simple yet effective chord driven house track with dense and poignant vocal samples and a classic drum groove.""

Here is a rework of my favorite Terry Callier track, "Holdin' On (To Your Love)", a groove pearl made of soulful horns, touching politically-conscious lyrics and Terry's incredibly warm voice at his best. The original song was released in 1978 as part of his classic LP "Fire On Ice".

As a Prince fan I have bought many of his records from his official catalogue, but also from his "unofficial" catalogues (Bootlegs, concerts...) Same as many of you, I guess, and we are all sad today after what happened ...
The least that I could do was paying tribute to this Music Master in giving all my heart into working on a revamping of one of my favorite track : "Money Don't Matter 2 Night".
BPM is 112.
I have added my special touch on the Drums, with an intro and outro as well, but wanted to stay not to far from the original.

So grateful we found Daniel Ahearn, a Singer based in Los Angeles, who wrote this song together with Rich Jacques. We discovered this track on Youtube and really loved everything about it. The lyrics are very intense and emotional. But (and this was most important for us) absolutely authentic. 

We took the vocals and built a whole new arrangement and instrumentation around them. We think this song is brilliant for thoughtful moments, but also while just chilling with your friends enjoying good music!

GAMPER & DADONI - Close To You (feat. Daniel Ahearn)

Originally recorded in 1973, "Where Are We Going" was supposed to be part of the legendary "Let's Get It On" album. 
For some reason it did not make the cut, and this beautiful song written by Larry Mizell was first heard through a jazz/funk cover by Donald Byrd & his Blackbyrds. 

It's only in 2001 that the original Marvin Gaye version was released as part of "Let's Get It On" LP reissue featuring various b-sides & studio sessions.

Ever since I first heard it a few years ago, it has immediately become one of my favorite Marvin's song, because of its irresistible groove, Marvin's singing at his best, but also its thoughtful lyrics.

Marvin Gaye - Where Are We Going (V4YS Rework)

Wolf + Lambs' San Fran trio Pillowtalk join the W+L Black edits crew, serving up tastefully housed-up reworks of soul gems. First up they get the scissors out on Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's late 60s soul anthem "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", turning it into an extended, chugging disco-soul bomb. Next up is Bobby Hebb's version of the classic "Sunny", this time with the simplest of house beats added, making this an essential for Marcy Hotel nights. Lastly the Festivals' super-slow soul smoocher "You've Got The Makings Of A Lover" gets seriously pepped-up, with BPMs pushed towards peak-time dancefloor action.
