Essex super-producer, Slightly Transformed record label owner, and DJ, Chuggin Edits, joins forces with South African DJ, event curator and Slow Mo Lounge founder, Kongisto, to bring us their first collective mixtape for 2023. 

The mix features brand-new music, unreleased edits, familiar favourites, household staples and a touch of hip-hop, adding a dynamic mixed-bag feel while keeping to their theme of showcasing slow, chugging burners from the best Slo Mo labels from all around the globe. 

Label owner, producer, and DJ, Chuggin Edits, production credits include Slightly Transformed (his own label), Deep Sense, FKR, Alpaca Edits, Hot Digits Music, Midnight Riot, Disco Fruit, Tropical Disco, FKR maison du groove, Bandolier, Re-Loved, Love Harder, Noc Boots, and Masterworks.

Chuggin Edits plays the first 1h40m, Kongisto plays the rest.

Review
Since debuting in 2017, Stephen Richards has notched up releases on many of the nu-disco and re-edit scene's most checked imprints. Here he makes his bow on another, Fingerman's Hot Digits music. The three Richards originals on offer sound like hybrid productions, where his original beats and instrumentation are joined by samples from vintage disco and soul cuts. There's much to admire, from the mid-tempo, break-driven nu-disco colour of 'Winter Sunshine', where mazy synth sounds, dewy-eyed female vocal samples and laidback disco guitars catch the ear, to the Italian disco-meets-Italo-disco squelch of 'Gynoid' and the layered nu-disco warmth of 'Beat Don't Stop'. Chewy Rubs reworks 'Winter Sunshine', beefing it up and pitching it up to house-tempo while utilising his favourite bits of Richards' original mix.
