Tony Anthem (Future Prophecies) started his career djing and scratching at the local youth club. He soon progressed on to playing in clubs and at rave parties. Axl Ender started out making music with the synthesizer he got for his 12th birthday, he quickly discovered his love for synth and sound. The next logical step was to become a sound designer in film/television.
When listening to his productions, the cinematic influences that he has from making music to commercials and television is evident. Working as a Dj in many different clubs, and being a music lover shines through with the seamless mixing of genre and styles.

Boogiebeat Radio EP42 w/ Deekline & Ed Solo + Hatiras vs Kongman

Labsinthe Music manifested its humble beginnings around the great Seattle area in 2011. The project began with two seemingly opposite musicians but through their vision Labsinthe has transformed into one harmonious and cohesive sound.  Rooted in solid funk rhythms, melodic chord progressions and heavy drum lines their vision continues to grow. Jin (the producer) has explored the far reaching and deep speaking elements of hip hop artistry. From Graffiti to BBoying he has engaged and experienced the key elements of hip hop. His talents for lyricism and scratching are two of the elements that propelled the Labsinthe Beat project into creation. Calico (the creative) is a musician of many influences. Inspired by classic rock and old school hip hop he blends the two styles to make new sound. Lead vocalist and chief songwriter of several bands Calico has breached out seeking a different approach to songwriting. Both have always had passion for making music and the collaboration of Jin and Calico has lead to their first production "Sickstrumentals". The unique collection of hip hop beats with a diverse pallet of styles. They intend to begin working talented emcees to complete the effect of the Labsinthe Beat project. The Labsinthe vision keeps growing with much to come.

Funky fresh beats to set shit off. A 44 minute drum solo.  No melodies, no lyrics, just pure scratching, banging, looping and spinning. Starts off at a mellow 120 BPM then slides up to 144 for the majority of the sesh. The shit heats up till it's on fire around the 35 minute mark when the BPM's go up to about 180. Don't blame Baboon Torture Division if you spin this at the club and the B-Boys trash the dance floor like a 70's rock band hotel room. B-Boys will be B-Boys.

Straight up boom-bap everything. Minimalistic beautifully sloppy drumming as deep in the pocket as possible. Heavily blunted backbeats that are ripe for chopping, flipping, scratching, and re-imagining.
Recorded live on cloth muted drums with oktava, shure, audix mics midas mixer.

Mixed with minimal processing/efx in order to allow for *you* to process/pitch/warp/change tempo/distort/effect how ever you like. These loops are intentionally not over compressed/saturated with the idea that producers can really process these loops in their own creative ways. These beats are flexible. Additionally, I included some fills, high hat loops, and percussion loops to extend the pallete.

After the release of BOOM BAP BREAKS VOL. 1 I thought about ways to improve my process and take this next volume to another level.  Prior to recording this pack I practiced playing steady, minimal beats on my drum kit for 1 hour per day for 30 consecutive days (May 4-June 4 2020). I then recorded 7 sessions of 30-50 minutes each over the next week (June 5-11, 2020).  Editing took about 20 hours (June 12-14, 2020). All of the recordings were improvised without a metronome. Harvesting 500 of the best 1,2,4, and 8 bar loops from 4 hours of drum improvisations was an epic task! I am happy with how it turned out. I feel like there are some really special breaks in this pack and I hope that producers enjoy making music with them them as much as i do...
