here comes the second VINYL in the >Lion's Choice< series...

this version hails back to early 2014 when I invited Echo Ranks longside Radikal Guru for a Lion's Den meets Moonshine Recordings night to the old Yaam… we used the little time before the session and the next morning to record some dubs with Echo in my little room back then for some Berlin soundmen and had a first exchange on the idea of a collaboration… some time after this meeting I sent him a heavy steppaz riddim by Violinbwoy and he went into the studio in Leicester to record "Don't Kill Your Brother"… those vocals were then sent to Poland and got the Violinbwoy dub treatment, him creating two completely new versions… full power, full force…
as I love the style and works of vrki and his Digitron Sound project a lot, the idea wasn't far-fetched to ask him for a remix… and so he gave it the psy-hooligan-steppas-approach :P just a glimpse of what's to come after those good times we spent together this spring and summer on tour, in the studio and on different festivals and sessions… watch out for some tuff collaborations :P

"Don't Kill Your Brother" is a tune very much needed in those times of political turmoil and warfare. Echo Ranks from Leicester, UK, calling upon his I-dren to stop the senseless killing. A message of peace for the youths of today. In this instance with a ruff remix by the 'Balkan Dub Defenders' Digitron from Zagreb, Croatia - electronic madness style… Each side with a 'part 2' dub mix in full effect.

All dubs were transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, mastered with care and pressed on high quality 180g vinyl by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK. It is also digitally available.

In loving memory of the late great Michael "Prophet" Haynes (1957 - 2017)

The Roots Defender Band had the privilege to work close with Prophet for several stage shows and recording sessions in Italy and Europe; an experience never to be forgotten.

This tribute track was arranged, played and recorded by the Roots Defenders at the Satta Studio, Italy, a few weeks after Prophet's bodily departure. A one-shot live reggae rockers piece as a tribute for one of the greatest reggae artists. 

We later took the tracks to Mad Professor to get the proper Ariwa treatment. Now completed, the tribute has been uploaded today 03/03/2019, which would have been Prophet's 62nd earthday.

Alpha and Omega, true icons of the dub world have joined forces with son and nephew Alpha Steppa to create Dub Dynasty. The record, in the words of Alpha Steppa, is “an exploration of the unrelenting force of nature and the inspirational powers that brought us together to create this record.”

Taking inspiration from this credo, the title Unrelenting Force is a true reflection of the power and community that dub has mastered. Alpha and Omega and Alpha Steppa have called on their favourite collaborators from the UK, Ireland, South America, New York, Jamaica and South Korea to join with them in merging their pure, unadulterated dub into one of the deepest releases ever seen.

Alpha Steppa spent 2011/12 living and creating music in Asia, and he has been rewarded with some powerful connections in South Korea. For Unrelenting Force, he has called in Koonta, a member of Rude Paper and Korean reggae duo Koonta & Nuoliunce. Having worked with Alpha Steppa in Korea the pair’s previous collaboration is indicated with the smoothness and ease in which Eastern and Western styles are mixed. Another artist from Korea to feature on the release is up-and-coming melodica wunderkind Smiley Song. Featured here on the tracks Dub Dynasty and Warrior Song, Smiley proves that the roots sound is alive and well all over the world. Singing on Chicken and the Cow and the Buffalo and Goodness is N’Goni, one of the most exciting and mysterious new lyricists/singers to hit the scene. One of the most powerful tracks on the album is Monsoon Come, featuring the Dublin based South American singer Ras Tinny, this song is a true representation of the Dub Dynasty sound and is sure to surface as a single. Dub Dynasty is pleased to introduce these exciting new talents to the dub community and are certain a huge future awaits them.

Dub Judah, of Dub Jockey label fame, is one of the most respected names in UK Dub. His vocals on The Earth to It’s Original Form prove that old dub gods don’t die, they just get better and better. If you listen to dub and aren’t in awe of the name Linval Thompson, you aren’t listening hard enough. This iconic producer and singer has been making reggae since he was 20, playing with every major artist that ever passed through New York or Jamaica. A producer of over 40 albums, he is considered one of the essential contributors to reggae and its message in the 1970’s golden era. Featured here on the dub Long Time, Thompson’s vocals are as memorable as they are powerful. A taster of the full Linval Thompson release from Vibration Lab due for release next year.

Last but not least, Cian Finn contributes his unique blend of Celtic spirit and rootikal dub to 9 Years and Dub Island. Finn’s work as a member of Intinn saw the group named Best Upcoming Reggae act in the U.K and Ireland and he is renowned for his overwhelming positivity and insight into the principals of dub/reggae. Finn worked with Alpha Steppa on this year’s Moonshine Steppas release and the pair play off each other beautifully to create music that has a universal appeal and message.

The whole album is presented on limited edition 12" vinyl in a beautifully designed sleeve accompanied by a CD containing bonus mixes and dubs. This LP is powered by bass, the kind of bass that can reverberate through your whole body and lift you into another time and place.

Alpha Steppa a vécu en Asie en 2011/12 où il y a crée de nombreux morceaux. Il y a fait de solides connections notament en Corée du Sud. Alpha Steppa i Alpha & Omega su u sklopu ovog projekta pozvali razna gostovanja iz cijelog svijeta što je rezultiralo čistim i neiskvarenim zvukom. Od gostovanja na ovom izdanju izdvajamo Koonta, člana korejskog dua Koonta & Nuoliunce, a gostuje i njegov sunarodnjak  Smiley Song, a tu je i južnoamerički pjevač Ras Tinny. Vibration Lab is a production/dj duo/record label and events group based in London who create and promote: Future Digital Reggae. Over the last 10 years Vibration Lab have been on the cutting edge of the Reggae influenced BASS music scene in Europe. They have performed at The Glastonbury Festival, Outlook Festival, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Lovebox, One Love Festival, Tokyo Dub, Madness's House Of Fun Festival and all around Europe including: Holland, Romania, Poland and Czech Republic. They have also travelled to the US and played at the famous Dub Mission in San Francisco. They have shared the stage with the likes of Mungo's Hifi, Dread Squad, Benny Page, Suggs from Madness, RSD, Radikal Guru, ShyFX, David Rodigan, Trojan Sound System, Twilight Circus, Conscious Sounds, Disciples, Alpha Steppa, The Bug, OBF, Mr.Williamz, Curtis Lynch, Ranking Joe, Panda Dub, King Shiloh, Alpha & Omega, Kenny Knotts, Charlie P, Jacky Murda, Dubkasm, YT , Solo Banton and Soom T just to name a few. Vibration Lab have been associated with Dubby "Reggae influenced" Bass music but they have recently done two remixes pressed to vinyl:  Blend Mishkin & Roots Evolution Feat. Skarra Mucci & Mandinka Warrior ?– Original (Vibration Lab Remix) on Nice-Up Records NPU028 7" and Sound Transmission Records-12"-Empress / Solo Banton Feat. Sabrina Bell + Gallang / Parly B - Vibration Lab Remix) which signal a shift to a more "Digital" Reggae sound. 

For their next project they have assembled a "super group" formed out of the "live" sessions on the Reggae Roast Soundsystem. At these dances the pair would select in a throw-back 80's style,in the fashion of "old-school"sounds like Youth Promotion in Jamaica, with teams of singers and mc's. Along with help of Reggae soundsystem veterans: Brother Culture, Colourman, Donovan Kingjay and Dark Angel the pair went into the studio to re-create the energy and excitement of these dances and thus: Vibration Lab & The Digital Messiahs was born. The first single from this project will come out on the Vibration Lab label and is called: (Digital Messiahs Theme) feat:Brother Culture, Colourman, Donovan Kingjay and Dark Angel. A full album of the project will be released this year!

Vibration Lab is also working with up and coming MC/Singer Natty Campbell on some new material to come out on the Vibration LabLabel, first release is called: Tell It To Dem on the Utica Riddim, which will be ot soon!
