We're starting up the New Year with a new mix series, every Wednesday we will be publishing mixes from some of our favourite DJs/ Selectors.

Kicking it off we have Yorkshires own Zöla stepping up to the plate. Currently residing in Leeds, Zöla is the man behind the city’s lively ‘Bazuka’ party, a recent venture that sees DJs from all corners of the UK exhibit their various influences from sound system subcultures around the globe.

 Zöla also runs ‘Momacat Discos’, a new label that had their first release in the height of last year’s summer; the heavy debut single from the local Leeds jazz legends ‘Plantfood’. 

For the first mix in our new series, Zöla has woven together an hour of music exploring traditional South American styles and their influence with psychedelic latin concepts. Open your curtains, pull up your blinds and let the sun creep in…this ones going to make you feel good!

This weeks mix comes from Leeds based DJ, broadcaster, record obsessive and all round music guru edv3ctor. 

Ed has been deeply embedded in the music and arts scene of the North West and across the UK for over twenty years and has one of the most diverse tastes in music out of anyone we know. Ed is one of those people that just listens to absolutely everything and is like a walking encyclopaedia when it comes to music. If you're out and about he can be spotted in many a different musical situation; playing Drum and Bass behind the counter at Tribe Records whilst selling weirdo bleeps and percussive dub techno 12"s to customers, crouched in a dusty basement record shop digging for Post-Punk, Rock and Library records, and also spinning Jazz, Funk & Hip-Hop at his regular Simpactico Sessions hosted alongside Barry's Here and friends...and thats not even scratching the surface! This week Ed has surprised us once again with a  'contemporary, historical and archival Brazilian percussion, voice and electronics themed sequence'. Highest respects go out to all On U Sound but especially the late and great Style Scott drummer of Dub Syndicate and Roots Radics who was in Nottingham that beautiful night!

Vibronics, the future sound of dub, have been vibrating the world with bass since 1995. Their music is at the forefront of the UK Dub scene, proven by over 40 releases on their own legendary SCOOPS label as well as a host of albums, singles and remixes for a myriad of other labels such as Universal Egg, Jarring Effects, Dubhead and Jah Tubbys . In the studio they have worked with Zion Train, Iration Steppas, Macka B, Ranking Joe, High Tone, Big Youth and an almost endless list of dub & reggae luminaries. Wether dub-mixing live on stage, rocking the clubs or uplifting the festivals, Vibronics continue to perform tirelessly across Europe as well as in Asia, Central America and the Caribbean.

Vibronics come roaring out of their studio with 12 brand new remix collaborations featuring the cream of French dub artists … High Tone, Zenzile, Brain Damage, Weeding Dub, Blackboard Jungle, OBF and Kanka are just some of the artists to be re-worked in this one away international project.

3 x 10" single release on SCOOPS Records for summer. This host of killer new vocals include works by Demolition Man, Ras Tweed, Professor Natty & Echo Ranks as well as instrumental contributions from London's Ital Horns and Tokyo's Killer Sista Makiko.
