Growing up I have always been afraid of losing someone who is close to me. Later, when I started dating and experienced my first heartbreaks and disappointments with men, this fear grew stronger and it made me think twice before I let someone in. I naturally let my guard down to men who were not good for me and left me in a cowardly pathetic way. At this particular point in my life, when I wrote “Black Hoodie”, I wondered if I could ever trust someone again and just started seeing a guy who was – to my surprise - about to change my mind. I could feel myself getting ready to open up again but it turned out he wasn’t. I soon realized that he was very conceited and made me feel like I’m not good enough for him, even though I was very happy with myself at the time. Constantly feeling the pressure to impress him and show him my best side, I knew this is not a healthy way of getting to know someone. Nobody should ever feel this way.  (I became very frustrated with the situation and started writing “Black Hoodie” even before it was over and the last lines “I will not be around when you figured it out” after I last saw him). I was wondering why it is so hard to find a nice guy, who’s treating me with respect and doesn’t bore me in the bedroom.

I was very inspired by strong, modern women, especially by Jessie Reyez, who writes very honest about her ex-loves and physical attraction. Nobody should be afraid to tell their story and expressing what they desire. Every female artist should be able to speak her mind and openly talk about sex in the way men are in this industry without being judged.

Columbus, Ohio artist Calvin Stone took a shot in the dark late 2016 releasing his first album “Seven Seven”.

Using a rather unorthodox method of promo he gained attention from many including Drummer Michael Dreilich from Munich, Germany.
Michael then reached out to Calvin online by uploading a video of him jamming out to the song titled “My Uncles Basement”.

The two spoke on collaborating but it didn’t take place until 2020.
Quickly after the murder of George Floyd, Micheal reached out to Calvin showing empathy in regards to the racism and police brutality against blacks in America. Providing his platform for Calvin to display a message and raise awareness lead to the release of their first collaboration “The Water”.

Gaining momentum from the audio protest shed light on another issue in America. Collaborating with Munich based singer Victoryaz, Calvin and Michael released their second single “The Bells” highlighting the corruption in America and the antics of Donald Trump.
Building chemistry off of the two singles struck the Idea of doing an EP and calling it “speaking into existence”.

Witty wordplay, emotion and an engaging narrative mixed with straight forward and distorted sample beats creates a one of kind mixture.

The full EP is due to release on March 19th 2021 via Munich Warehouse.
