Dj ULISES (Guerillas of Soul, ATL) :BIO:

 THEN- In my mind, if anyone's name is synonymous with high energy and just making you feel good , that name belongs to ULISES. Considered one of the mainstays in Atlanta's rich DJ environment, ULISES has rocked crowds time and time again and earned THE reputation as THE UNOFFICIAL PARTY DJ. ULISES' driving funky house and wicked funky break beat sound has set the standard in Atlanta for an undeniable vibe. His most recent high profile gig rocked Atlanta to the ground as he opened up the main room of LIQUID GROOVE'S largest party to date-LIQUIFIED UNIVERSE . The lineup drew near 8000 people with headlining acts SASHA, JOHN DIGWEED, the beloved RABBIT IN THE MOON, FABIO, GROOVERIDER, JIM MASTERS, and the Wicked Crew's very own GARTH. With a perpetual smile and his trusty record crate-ULISES rocked the crowd whether they had made it into the building yet or still standing outside grooving to the overwhelming sound of the bassbins. However, the list does not end there-ULISES has played alongside some of the most impressive names including the CHEMICAL BROTHERS, PAUL OAKENFOLD, DJ TAYLOR, TRIP THEORY, BAD BOY BILL, HALO, DERRICK CARTER, PAUL JOHNSON, DOC MARTIN, MARK FARINA, RICHARD 'HUMPTY' VISSION, HEATHER HEART, and FRANKIE BONES. While most DJs credit other DJs or producers as major influences, ULISES lists salsa, meringue, Tito Puente, and many other latin artists as his mentors. Not a bad idea considering his records do have a certain Latino flavor driving the four on fours. Amongst his peers, ULISES is recognized as an esteemed tag partner, extremely talented technical DJ, and impeccable record selector. This five year veteran of the turntables knows how to rock a crowd anytime and anyplace. When the percussion drops-make no mistake, resistance is futile-just take it to the dancefloor and get ready to have fun.

NOW-Proud husband and father of 2 girls. Got away from everything for a while but missed it to much! Called Clay Ivey up to collaborate on a track and La Tortuga was born! TBC..........

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

About Gareth:
Digital creative type, gamer, music lover and occasional DJ. Currently living between Dubai & Seoul after setting sail from Sunderland in 2010. As a young designer, club and music culture was the driving force for his work, producing artwork for local club nights and record labels in the North East of England. In particular, DJ mix cds and their packaging were always his 'holy grail of design', especially those from Renaissance, Global Underground and Good Looking Records. It's a pleasure to share these discs back with people and they still influence our tastes to this day.
