"Chilly Morning"

Lately, the nights have been really cold and in the morning, the grass and rooftops are all covered with frost. It’s beautiful… and chilly. So I was working on a song and at some stage I came to think that this name would suit the song!

This was played by me using my old Korg digital stage piano as a master keyboard and the following instruments: 
- Piano/EP layer: Keyscape (Yamaha C7 Grand Piano/LA Piano + MKS EP)
- Electric piano: Keyscape/Rhodes - LA Custom Suitcase
- Lead layer: Yamaha Montage 8 (DX7 French Horn), UVI FMX4OP (Power Lead), Arturia Prophet-5 & Jup-8 V, AAS Lounge Lizard EP-4
- Strings: UVI Orchestral Suite, String Ensemble
- Drums: UVI Emulation II+ (cf. E-mu Emulator, Drumulator, SP12)
- Bass: Arturia Acid V

Recorded with Cubase Pro 12 using Yamaha Montage 8 as an audio interface. Mixed and mastered with iZotope Neutron 4 & Ozone 11.

Chilly Morning

Well as the clocks go forward tonight, (or maybe back - I never can remember), meaning we gain (or is it lose?) an hour, (though obviously we don't really), so it will be darker (or lighter) in the morning (or is it evening?) I thought it would be timely, as it were, to take a moment, and draw from my deep intellectual insight into the matter to explain all there is to know about that tricky little bugger, time.

Starting as a ditty which was then utterly transformed with Seagull's production, arrangement and musical genius, drawing on Dan-DT's deft touch on the soft squidgy bits, it was eventually incorporated into Seagull's brilliant "Compendium of Time". Old Father Time

Did you commence, at once, or have you always ever been
And will your pounding heartbeat ever cease?
Are you a sense, or force, or something other in between?
Simply ticking down to each and every last release?
Is your pulse rate constant in this exponential universe?
Or does my biology speed the tempo of your rhyme?
Why are the lifespans of your subjects so potentially diverse?
Do you hear me cry your name, Old Father Time?

Is your mission merely measure, or are you yourself the cause
Of evolution and decay of matter's elementary doom?
Are you the seemly pressure on the future's pending pause
Ethereally benign or other natural force subsume?
Can you shift like rays in prisms, temporal rainbows to behold
Are you the cause of age or do you simply count it's lines
Is your rounded face imprisoned in a cell numbered twelvefold
Do you hear me cry your name, Old Father Time?

At terminal expansion of our present universe
For its destined re-contraction to begin
Will your hands slow to a halt then slip into reverse
Or count us down in forward time back to our origin?
Will the ultimate compaction trigger seasonal adjust
Predicate upon your base the final great rewind?
Then will you recommence or revert back to gently ticking dust?
Do you hear me cry your name, Old Father Time?

Guernica, the holy city of the Basques, 
Is located east of Bilbao in northern Spain.
It became known worldwide when it was
Attacked by German and Italian fighter planes 
More than 85 ys ago
During the Spanish Civil War 
Bombed the city into rubbles and ashes
And everyone else who lived there before
Guernica, one of the first airborne bombardments 
Aiming to eradicate civilians and other innocents

There`s no color, there’s no depth 
And for sure there’s no relief 
From your point of view
It’s monochrome and cubistic,
It makes your stomach tighten up,
When you think about everything that's happened ever since then and, 
Above all,
What is yet to come ?
What’s next upon the sleeve ?

Pointed, deadly spear 
Piercing right through the chest
That’s like a manifest 
Just look into the frantic eyes of the dying horse
And you know and feel immediately, what’s goin’ on
It makes one wonder who the hell is comitting thus 
And for fucks sake what's basically wrong with us 
There`s no color, there’s no depth 
And for sure there’s no relief 
From your point of view
No matter what point you may choose
Will the victors again 
be writing down the history ?
It was the victors backthen,
Who wrote down history long ago...
