Perfectly crafted for the 60s’ nostalgics, this set is made of the very best of rocksteady icons. Tendentious and flimsy at the same time, this selection is a simple invitation to glide along and enjoy every minutes of pure pleasure strengthened by the presence of some undebatable gems.

From the likes of Slim Smith, Peter Tosh and The Imperials, the Dj set unveils a rare selection of impressive audio gems that enable each listener to get an overview of the roots of reggae music through the spectrum of ska, rocksteady and skinhead rocksteady classics. 

Jamaican music isn’t just about mainstream and overheard reggae artists and this soulful compilation is a great revival of the undiscovered Golden debut of Caribbean music. 

Eventually, rocksteady was very popular and echoes the best days of Jamaican music however it was short-lived and turned rapidly into reggae by the end of the 60s. 
Based on early R&B beats, jazz, ska, African and Latin drummings, rocksteady is a soothing music genre, slightly groovy and dead good!

The guitar riffs drive us through a daydream, a heartfelt moment however the vocal harmony of the singers, the offbeat rhythms and the exquisite organ keys such as the melodica sounds are the very essential ingredients that make rocksteady such a good genre.

56 minutes and 26 seconds during which each notes should be deeply enjoyed. A slow dance tempo and dreamy melodies: the sandy beach and a breathtaking view are the only missing elements to take this selection from an excellent level to a flawless level.

‘The rare side of Rocksteady’ is a powerful tribute to a genre hard to recall but highly appreciate by vinyl  and music lovers.
