Although no strangers to the label, the duo has appeared on Viper's 'Drum & Bass Summer Slammers 2015' album with ‘Hollow’, and then again on 'The Sound of Drum & Bass 2016' with ‘Bad’.

Following the hugely successful debut of our ‘Dispatch Dubplate’ label, with the first two vinyl releases selling out across all stores, we're proud to welcome #3 in the series, led predominantly by label favourite DLR. Much like the previous Dubplates, each vinyl will showcase a thicker set 180 grams in weight, hand numbered (1 – 300), hand-stamped, signed, with an added label sticker pack with all 300; never to be re-pressed.

Setting off the release, we're pleased to release our most in-demand dub from the past year; the mighty Break & DLR rework everyone has waited for – “Murmur VIP”. With the original first appearing in 2012 on Octane & DLR's “Method In The Madness” album, the Break & DLR VIP has revitalized the initial buzz of an already popular track, in spectacular fashion. Causing havoc on dancefloors worldwide, it has already seen heavy rotational support by Friction on his BBC Radio 1 show (with 6 plays on the show in total to date).

In addition, we present a new, original track from DLR; the immaculately detailed “Regeneration”. This drops us right back to the late 90s with a cosmic vibe that pays homage to the Virus / Konflict era, brought right up to date. Although delivered in a superbly tight, modern construct, it never loses its old school essence and authenticity. This release features two versions of the track, the “Generated Mix” is exclusive to the vinyl format, whilst the gnarly “Metamorphosis Mix” also features as a digital only bonus, both offering a very different take on a track that (in its original form) was never planned or set to surface, so we felt it fitting for this to appear on the Dispatch Dubplate label.

Completing the Dubplate comes the second re-work of the release, as “Tugboat” receives the remix treatment, with “The Moneyshot VIP” appearing on both vinyl and digital formats. A new take on DLR’s solo Dispatch single from 2013, the VIP is nothing short of a huge re-work and a complete re-invention of the original, taking a much more stepping dance floor approach from start to finish.

This release features a vinyl only track “Regeneration (Generated Mix)”. This will not be available in digital format at all. Vinyl buyers will be able to download all the other tracks, however this dubplate exclusive mix will never be available in any other format.

Each vinyl purchase will receive free 320kbps mp3 & wav files of all the available digital tracks. These will only become available to download on the Friday before general release and no sooner – this is the 20th of March as general release date is the 23rd March.

Returning to Dispatch Recordings for their second EP on our main label, we’re proud to welcome back the ever-evolving duo Gerra & Stone, for 2015, with the ‘Unbreakable EP’.

Despite releasing only twice with us to date, Gerra & Stone have quickly established themselves as key up and comers here at Dispatch, developing and fine tuning their skills to an impeccable standard, at almost implausible speeds.

With 2014’s gnarly ‘Too Deep EP’ still fresh in our minds, the pair explore a much more soul driven, musical direction for the ‘Unbreakable EP’, an angle seemingly subdued from dancefloor favourites of the past.

Nothing better demonstrates this than title track ‘Unbreakable’, as the duo eloquently arrange sultry piano interludes from the talented Stephen McCleery, with thrilling sparks of signature low ends, all led by a beautifully striking vocal hook from folk singer Lucy Kitchen.

Techier elements still linger, as gritty drum shuffle ‘Plates’ rebels, however, despite hitting hard when need be, the EP is characterised by its blissful Summer feel. With heavily Lenzman supported ‘Tender Touch’, soulful vocal echoes of ‘Release My Soul’ and delicate piano chords littering ‘Almost U’, Gerra & Stone complete their 2nd EP with a distinct touch of class.

To say that Document One “defy categorisation” wouldn't quite get across the whole truth. For one thing, it's a cliché, and to use a cliché to describe their brand of gritty, smoky, jazz-inspired, funk-infused dancefloor D&B just wouldn't be right. After all, they steer well away from cliché in their music, what with their expert melding of the light and the dark, the natural and the synthetic, the laid-back and the crowd-hyping. They've created their own category, and the two tracks on this release are here to stretch the limits of it a couple of notches further. “Chasing Stars” is the sound of effortlessness. 

Two different flavours of drum, the techy kick and snare plus the loose cymbals and fills, roll alongside each other in the intro. Meanwhile noodling keys and the eponymous vocal riff create a gentle head-nodding vibe. Then, without breaking a sweat, Document One call this casual jam-session to order, with a grimy bassline that weaves the whole track into a tightly-knit roller. This is dangerous rave material that you don't see coming. 

Then “Get Da Funk” goes one step more groovy. Yeah, groovy. That's the word for it. Horns and acoustic drums lay down the vibe, then a Motown-style vocal soars over the top to build things up. Then the drop gives us quintessential Document One, as bass and iron fist drums create a rhythmic combination with vocal and horn stabs that is absolutely irresistible. An ice-cool breakdown with added blues guitar gives the opportunity for even more hype in the second drop. 

These tracks could easily be onstage recordings from some ultra-slick band. The deftly expert programming doesn't detract from the feeling of live energy that Document One manage to get in their music. Like the best jazz or funk acts, it's the sound of accomplished technicians letting loose and having some fun. And while they're having fun, the ravers are too. This is D&B as only Document One do it.
