Few artists to emerge from North America’s drum & bass culture have made such a significant or enduring impact as San Francisco trio Bachelors of Science. Formed in 2005, group has spent the better part of a decade writing memorable music, carving out an unmistakable signature sound that spans the full emotional scope of the genre. Two full length albums and numerous memorable releases on some of drum & bass’s finest labels had already secured Bachelors of Science’s spot amongst North American D&B’s elder statesmen when the group founded Code Recordings in 2012 - a label dedicated to honing the Bachelors’ own sound as well as the scene’s finest up and coming talent. Now in 2015, Bachelors of Science is proud to present its third full-length outing and first for Code - The Space Between.

Bachelors of Science launches into The Space Between on a high note with ‘Before You Go’ featuring Dylan Germick and Audio Angel. Wasting no time, ‘Before You Go’ sets the vibe with a cascade of crisp breaks underlying optimistic piano melodies. Lush bass tones and Germick’s soulful vocal stylings quickly take control, cutting through the mix and hanging together in perfect balance. It’s the kind of singular songwriting abilities drum & bass fans have come to expect from the trio.

Christian Hoffmann – aka Toronto Is Broken – is a name that’ll be on many a Drum and Bass fans’ lips this summer. Hailing from the UK, the producer is quickly gaining attention in the bass music world for his unique sound and experimental edge; not to mention his ability to conjure up a seriously club-worthy hit. Since his debut EP ‘Move It’ made a big impact in 2012, Toronto Is Broken’s already impressive track record has seen him garner support from some of the industry’s biggest names.

This year will see the release of the producer’s second album, following the huge success of his ‘Section Nine’ LP in 2015. Now, off the back of more recent tracks ‘Voyager II’ and ‘No Gyal Tune’, Toronto Is Broken releases the very first single from his upcoming LP on Viper Recordings: ‘Make Me Feel / Trying To Find Home’.

First up, ‘Make Me Feel’ wastes no time in giving us a taste of what this artist is capable of, blending together his trademark power-fuelled drums with a murky, tech-infused bassline. Dark and dangerous, it’s clear that this track will be blowing plenty of speakers over coming months.

On the flip, ‘Trying To Find Home’ highlights a softer side of the producer’s capabilities, merging atmospheric vocals with a euphoric, reflective composition. 

With his album 'You Are (Not) Alone' set to drop later this year, stay tuned for more unique beats and bass appeal from Toronto Is Broken in 2017 and beyond.

One of Viper’s newest and most exciting signings, Australian brothers Jeff and Jono Hansen, otherwise known as Ekko & Sidetrack, have been turning heads the world over since their debut release on the label. With a warm, welcoming introduction, Tom Cane’s voice soars over a delicate intro that slowly builds in power and momentum before exploding into liquid-infused dancefloor goodness.

Bright, upbeat, and heartwarming from start to finish, Ekko & Sidetrack have proven their strength in diversity with another in a slew of successful releases on the label. Proving they can master any subgenre of drum & bass, there’s certainly a lot to watch out for from these two.
