Following their critically acclaimed work together on last year’s ‘Higher’, ‘Together In The Night’ sees Chris recruit the stunning vocals of Mira once again. Armed with complementary styles, Chris’s undulating waves of subtle bass fluctuate beneath Mira’s emphatic, emotionally rich delivery. Heightened further by shimmering, arpeggios and star-gazing synths, it’s a quintessential dreamy dynamic. Expect nothing but hugs, blissed out faces and perhaps a few smooches on your floor when you drop this… Pure rolling romance.

‘The Burning’ ensures we’re not too caught up in the emotional side of the dance: a tag-team with old New Zealand friends State Of Mind, it’s a crisp, techy message of menace. After an opening salvo of icy, cosmic synths and spine-shuddering prayer calls we’re thrown head first into the gnarly bass drop that rifles its way along with turbo-charged tenacity, switching into longer drone flexes on the fills for added excitement. The breakdown strips back the elements succinctly to just one powerful synth, giving the second drop even more impact. Make no mistakes, this is pure nocturnal naughtiness.

TECH 115 – Crissy Criss – Trinity Vol 2

With the conclusion of Crissy Criss's ground-breaking, genre-defining 1Xtra show last year, the obvious question is, what's next? Well, what's next is the continuation of his international DJ career, dubstep production and DJing as part of Dead Exit and work with his own label The Zooooo. But what's next for Crissy Criss the drum and bass producer? Answer: this is.

“Go Hard” sets out Crissy's statement of intent. An expansive soundscape of pads and subtle percussive hits is ruptured by a warning of imminent danger provided by siren tones, a layer of jagged bass and a march-time arpeggio. This all sets the mood for a stomping militaristic beat, but then Mr Criss wrong-foots us and switches up the timing to give us some downright funky syncopation instead. These contrasting rhythmical flavours, delivered with typically tough drums and basslines make this one that's bound to set the dance alight.

Then “Monday” brings a darker hue. A grinding drill-bit tone in the mid-range instantly penetrates straight through the gloom of the intro, setting up for a stripped-back drop that's all about the basslines. Interplay between Crissy's expertly-manipulated low-end sounds and higher-register staccato hits is mirrored by the call and response of chest-vibratingly hard kicks and snares. This is raw, screw-face music for when the ravers want to get grimey.

Finally, we're treated to a Dead Exit relick of “Everybody” from Crissy's “More Than Ever” EP. They've taken the component elements of the original and reworked them into multiple layers of percussion, rebuilding them into a dubstep framework. The slower tempo and more minimalistic form allows some of the savagery of the original to be channelled into more intricately-designed programming without sacrificing any of the pure dancefloor appeal.

So, with “Trinity Vol 2”, Crissy Criss shows that even alongside his hectic schedule of DJing, dubstep and label-running, he's still showing no signs of letting his drum and bass production skills slip. He's still representing for multiple flavours of bass-heavy music, and there's plenty more where that came from.

Deep in solitary lockdown, Hamilton has been crafting these next cuts with the meticulous precision. These two tracks present the perfect backdrop for his comeback, presenting him as a veteran artist who effortlessly combines the famed 90s vibe with contemporary production.

With pent up aggression and pounding breaks, ‘Feel the Fury’ rolls out first ominously. Cracking high hats and quick-fire percussion adds a layering that helps carry the record’s forward motion. Alongside a bassline that coils, and then lashes out over a plunging drop, you’re thrown between the snap, crack and whip of a hugely intricate composition. On the flipside, ‘Track 8’ is an innovative slice of drum & bass which is both fun and drivingly relentless. Bouncing subs, coupled by distorted synths take you through elevated note patterns of gradually building, musical imagery. It’s a steppy riddim, one which doesn’t completely crash on impact but instead is creeping in its intensity. It’s Hamilton at his most diverse, yet again proving the versatility in his craftwork.

With another stunning delivery from Hamilton, 2015 is setting a precedent. One which the producer is sure to ride out into the future.

We are pleased to welcome Survival & Silent Witness back to Dispatch for their next release, entitled the ‘Trust No One EP’. Featuring two incredible new tracks from the duo, the EP also includes remixes of 2013 “In From The Wild” album track, ‘Fletcher’. 

Rolling it out with decisive force and in signature style from the duo, two original tracks from Survival & Silent Witness kick off the EP. 

With a surge in energy capable of causing nothing short of carnage on the dancefloor, ‘Trust No One’ sets things off, in a clamoring exchange between mechanical entities. 

Building the intro in merciless, near apocalyptic fashion, ‘Cutter’ is the next to follow on the EP, as resounding low ends terrorize irrefutably beneath tightly chopped breaks.

Emerging from our ‘Fletcher’ remix competition as the overall winner, Slovakian based Minor Rain comes correct with a fantastically balanced re-work, retaining the musicality of the original, echoing the emotions over a dark, more stripped back core. 

Although only intending to release one winner, we had no choice but to select two runner-up submissions to be released in addition, upon hearing an array of top quality entries, with a thunderous re-fix by Depth Mode and a gritty 140 flip from Diecast.

Tinlicker strike again on Sotto Voce, their second release on Feed Me’s imprint takes things up a notch for 2015. Out exclusively on Beatport on the 14th April, and other platforms worldwide on the 28th April. The kaleidoscopic synth tinged 5-track EP “Into The Open”, is an epic journey from start to finish. The EP sees collaborations with Devries on the title track, and amazing euphoric, awe-inspiring vocals from Laura Louise on “Gazoline”.

This EP combines the hugely in-vogue modulating 80s synth-techno with the atmospherics expected from a Brian Eno project, backed by the thumping, crisp percussion, spanning across, spacious loose-limbed headphone pieces and tough, floor-focused club tracks. This innovative duo have sculpted a unique sound of their own, and made a home with the Sotto Voce family.
