This month at Lifestyle we are very excited to bring you something ultra-fresh. Introducing two new artists on our label, get ready for the funked-up sound of P&K. These two sassy Spaniards have been putting in their dues around the scene for a bit now, honing a lively, tight neuro sound. With their refreshing take on high-energy drum & bass, these boys are set on a steep trajectory, one that’s sure to see their tracks landing right on target, and demolishing dancefloors the world over. We’re real pleased to bring them into the familia, and with these two cracking tunes, we’re certain you’ll be glad we did as well! 

‘Dancing Swing’ does right what it says on the tin, flaunting their original style for all to hear. A live, jazzy intro (complete with horns, keys, crazy drum rolls, and vocal stabs) builds the tension with a tight, driving break underneath, before the tension breaks and out comes the horrible reeses. From the drop onwards it’s a straight-up dut affair, with big, warpy bass riffs that force movement out of your body, and stuttering, techy bass sections reminiscent of early 00’s neuro. A tune that not only brings the heat with the crazy basses, but remains distinctive and stylish, instead of drowning all it’s individuality in a sea of reese design. Absolutely essential track for anyone mixing aggressive drum & bass styles. 

‘The Mirror,’ a much darker track, but just as beautifully crafted. A tasty drum funk forms the intro, with a bunch of echoic, spacey synths and textures, added to this is a incredibly creepy piano and a bunch of swirling bass design, before the track drops, opening up into a fat reese riff, weighted by an ultra-funked drum break. Simple, but heavily effective, this track is another specifically crafted for a rowdy club; the breakdown will have people looking over their shoulder for ghosts, but then exorcising themselves as soon as those basses kick back in. A super-strong first release for Lifestyle from Picota & Kumbh, hopefully the first of many we’ll be supplying from these Iberian brothers.

P&K - The Mirror

Core members of the hand-picked elite force that make up the Technique Recordings roster, No Concept are known as much for their eclectic selection of influences as they are for sheer dance demolition.

And here's how they're setting their stall out for 2020.

First up is a trip down memory lane with 'Be the 1'. No Concept deliver pitch perfect old skool vibes in the intro with pitched-up vocals, breaks, stabs...all that 1991 goodness. But behind the throwback facade lies a militant smasher aimed straight at contemporary dancefloors. The savage bassline assault blended masterfully with the retro elements means this is going to find fans amongst selectors of all persuasions.

Then 'Remember' flips the script. No Concept take us through moods of anxious tension, soulful emotion, and hyped anticipation before we've even got to the drop. Moments of melody and harmony signal that this tune isn't going to do things by the book. The dark minimalism of the drop, made from rolling beats and modulating bass tones punctated with gorgeous floating vocal samples, is a call to arms that's guaranteed to resonate with ravers.

No Concept live up to their name once again with two tunes that defy neat categorisation. The constantly evolving style of these producers means that each one of their releases delivers something new every time. Better pay close attention.
