Fly by Night is the latest project from Minneapolis rapper Vision the Kid. Tag teaming with his once-high school producer, Fly by Night is hip hop’s pop-inspired love child with American music. Technically-not-illegal samples of Queen, Bob Seger, Imogen Heap and Albert Hammond, Jr. never sounded so good. Vision the Kid’s first release since 2015’s well received Golden Era mixtape (TheSource.com called it “extremely promising and occasionally brilliant”), Fly By Night finds the rapper with the same smooth-but-lyrical style over samples from some of the biggest, and unlikeliest, artists of the last 50 years of pop music.

Vision the Kid & Tru is a Minneapolis based Hip Hop artist, currently working on his 3rd full length album. In 2013, Vision the Kid was voted Best Local Rapper in a poll by Minneapolis publication Vita.mn. 
Vision the Kid's debut album, Lost Summer, debuted in 2012 and spent over 10 weeks on the College Media Journal's Hip-Hop charts, peaking at #12. The debut music video, "Lost Summer," made it to MTV.com's New Artist highlight page. Many songs including the single“Live from the Midwest” have been featured on both MTV's The Real World and E! Network's Kourtney & Kim Take Miami.

Somewhere in a Dark City displays the type of growth listeners and critics want to see from artists. It is densely personal, at times vulnerable, but overall an invitingly listenable record. Mixing true stories of drug addiction and heart break with tracks of pure, danceable braggadocio, Vision the Kid & Tru set out to make a Hip-Hop record that sounds as current as it does timeless, as personal as it is universal, and as much party as it is poetry.
