Guitarist, gear junkie and mix engineer with a background in technology, beer and 80's rock/metal.

Originally from Limerick, Men of Twenty are Johnny on vocals & rhythm guitar, Daniel on lead guitar & backing vocals and Conor on drums, piano/keyboards & backing vocals.

The versatility of the band shows a unique method of songwriting. Conor McCarthy, the drummer, is also an accomplished pianist, encompassing his classical style of piano playing into the writing, as well as tightly rehearsed, alternative drumming. All the while, John McDonnell lays down the foundation of their tracks with his simple, rhythmic guitar playing, relatable lyrics and a voice that carries both tender and edgy tendencies that can only come from a truly emotional performance. In addition, Daniel Clarke completes the writing trio with his own style of lead guitar playing, using effects to create both and ambient yet gritty sound, true to his indie and rock influences.

Men of Twenty have been featured in Hot Press and were included in the ‘Top 50 Irish bands you have to hear’ list last year. In 2014 they were also a top pick for Guinness Amplify, playing ten dates throughout Ireland.

The band has supported many artists throughout Ireland such as Royseven, Hermitage Green, The Minutes, The Kanyu Tree, Heathers, Fred and The Sawdoctors.   

Of their previous incarnation (Animal Beats), Jim Carroll of the Irish Times said: "Limerick-raised, Dublin-based indie kids pushing a rock/pop line with interesting hooks and riffs in the mix.... their strongest calling card to date, a tune which best catches what lead singer John McDonnell’s voice can do."

I was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1984. My musical life started when my family bought a guitar and an amp for me, although I failed my lessons during the high school years. In 2001, we put together a band named “Ungoliant” with Fatih Yaman and Alper Tayfun and we started making music actively. As I became the back vocals and lead guitarist of the band, we started composing.
In 2005, we published a demo album, Disciple, consisting of 5 songs. Later, we published a promo album named Daily Pills in 2008, consisting of 3 songs. On the other hand, some musicians changed in the band within this period. We had many successful concerts with the band, which is now known as “Prime Object”. Rotting Christ concert and Unirock Festival are the most important organizations among those. Additionally, I took on a task as bass guitarist in “Courtyard” in 2005 for a while and I took part in important organizations such as Rock Republic Festival. Currently, I am working on my solo works. I opened this page in the hope that my works would not vanish in this digital age.

Lisede karnemdeki zayıflara rağmen ailemin verdiği sözü tutarak ilk gitarımı ve amfimi almalarıyla müzik hayatına başladım. 2001 yılında Fatih Yaman ve Alper Tayfun ile birlikde “Ungoliant” isimli grubumuzu kurarak aktif olarak müzik yapmaya başladık. Grupda Gitar ve back vokal görevini üstlenmemle hızlı bi şekilde beste çalışmalarına başladık. 2005 yılında 5 şarkıdan oluşan “Disciple” isimli demomuzu ve 2008 yılında 3 şarkıdan oluşan “Daily Pills” isimli promo albümümüzü yayınladık. Tabi bu süreçler içerisinde pek çok müzisyen değişiklikleri de oldu. Daha sonradan ismini Prime Object olarak değiştirdiğimiz grubumuzla birçok başarılı konserler verdik. Bunların içerisinde en önemlileri Rotting Christ Konseri ve Unirock Festivali gibi büyük organizasyonlardı. Prime Object'in yanı sıra 2005 yılında bir süre Courtyard isimli grupta da Bass Gitaristlik görevini üstlendim ve Rock Republic Festivali gibi önemli bir organizasyonda yer aldım. Şuan Prime Object'in haricinde kendi beste çalışmalarımla da uğraşmaktayım ve şu fani dünyada yaptığım kayıtların bilgisayarımda çürüyüp gitmemesi için bu sayfayı açmış bulunmaktayım.
