To understand Guy Brewer's creative output is perhaps more of a perceptive outlook onto the surroundings that have harnessed and fertilized such a mutable yield - a progressive change that is at all times moving forward in its' impulsivity and temperament. In that dynamic of change is the very constant that has defined the diverse artistic range in sound artistry that Brewer has come to master in his own right. After the dissolution of his esteemed group Commix, Brewer uprooted his UK drum n bass beginnings and transplanted himself to Berlin, where reinvention and transformation is of second nature to its' inhabitants that restlessly seek and speak through artistic language. The project Shifted began to take form in this realm of new possibility, an anonymous figure allowing shape amidst a new-found blank slate of sound. As much as this tabula rasa was cultivating a profound dexterity within the genres of techno, inherent know-how inevitably surfaced as nature does usually so influence nurture, and Brewer's compositional command (arguably honed throughout his seasoned years in the UK) came back to positively haunt him in no time. This reclamation of a past, worthy of upholding into the future, has since proven a positive sweep into the magnetism of his music as a whole. Since inception, Brewer's Shifted moniker has grown into a unique yet encompassing mastery of sound and space, texture and tonalities -- a pure spirit of experimentalism with a foundational functionality. From his debut on Luke Slater's Mote Evolver label, to Dominick Fernow's (Vatican Shadow) Bed Of Nails and to his recent recordings for his own smartly curated imprint, Avian (home to techno experiments from Alessandro Cortini's Skarn, Peder Mannerfelt, SHXCXCHCXSH, and more) Brewer's work radiates in its' capacity to meld to context and circumstance without artistic compromise, and at once to color outside purist lines, pushing boundaries and provoking thought in a call to progressive techno, electronic, noise and experimental music as a whole. With the intention of pushing various forays further, Brewer has also birthed numerous other projects, notably the techno-drone outfit Covered In Sand (with releases on Avian's sister label, Mira, Hospital Productions and more) and the doomy soundtrack wielding of Alexander Lewis (home on Blackest Ever Black, Vereker's Endagered Species). In this versatility there is a steadfast dedication to a perpetual movement forward -- arguably leaving Brewer to embody a pure, unadulterated spirit of what it means to be an electronic musician: a rebel artist treading new territories with a fascination and fixation to craft brilliance with a new noise.

Nørbak is Artur Moreira, born in the late nineties, in the North of Portugal. His devotion into making music begins early in his life, and since then, keeps working in his studio, day after day, discovering and developing his own sound, diving into Ambient, Experimental, and mainly Techno. 

It all started in 2016 with labels such and Circular Limited and Illegal Alien, where he gave his first steps and since then he has been releasing his music on respected labels such as PoleGroup, Warm Up Recordings, Semantica, Modularz, Affin, Float Records and his sound has developed throughout these years focusing now more on the mental and physical side of Techno, where he finds the most comfort. 

In 2019 he joins the Portuguese independent collective and label Hayes as an active member, wherewith his label colleagues he’s pushing the new wave of contemporary Techno. 

With appearances in some respected clubs like Tresor, Lux Fragil, Gare Porto, and Family Club he also feels supported by some of the most respected artists in the scene like Oscar Mulero, Jonas Kopp, Svreca, Dasha Rush and more. His future can only be brighter than what it is right now, with so many boundaries to achieve, discover, learn and cross.

The Lady Machine is a veteran Brazilian artist with 20 years of experience on her belt purely as a vinyl DJ. Based on a more complex structure of rhythms with dark underground lines of synths and textures, The Lady Machine incorporates the spirit of techno in the twenty first century.

She stands by a deep musical research and precise technique. Her versatile sets blend genres of techno in its many forms and when combined with her fast, furious but tight mixing it creates a perfect atmosphere with the dancefloor. "I never limit myself to one style. “A quality sound with attitude and always dance floor orientated are what I try to convey in my sets" she says.

She told us also what inspired her most to record this mix for us:
"Really missing being in a club right now, with loud sound system. I focused all the energy I have to record a proper peak time mix for Voxnox" - We say thanks Cami, it's an honour for us!

VOLTAGE Podcast 01 - Shifted

Madrid-Berlin based, Psyk (Manuel Anós), is a solid staple of the current techno scene and doesn't seem to have gone off course since his precocious artistic ascension. 

His sets in the best clubs all over the world (Fabric, Berghain, Fuse, DeSchool, Concrete…) have helped crystallize his DJ talents making him one of the most requested DJs on the circuit and an influent figure in a whole generation. 
Psyk's singularity and maturity are constantly present in his music. The versatility who characterizes his sets are also shown in his productions, from "Arcade" or "Eclipse"´s entraining feverish techno, his remix for Planetary Assault System´s track Twelve to darker and deeper cuts like Lowdown for Tresor or his Fall From Grace for Semantica. 

In 2014 his widely acclaimed debut album "Time Foundation" is released on Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver imprint and in 2016 he releases the first record ever on the label of the mighty FUSE in Belgium. 
In 2019 he released his second album "A Moment Before" on Tresor records and also one of the most played EPs of the same year "Natural Causes" this time in collaboration with the Spanish producer Reeko.

Furthermore Manuel is regularly mentioned by the likes of Oscar Mulero and Robert Hood as one of the most interesting producers in recent years.

Like a conscientious artisan, Psyk approaches his compositions with care, adding somber power and energy through subtle touches, a process which has made him the subject of constant praise from illustrious artistic figures, be it through his offerings under the patronage of emblematic figures like Luke Slater, Len Faki, DVS1, Ben Sims stronghold labels Semantica and Tresor or even through his own label Non Series under his Maan alter-ego. Since its inception in 2011, Non Series has released collaborations by strings of prominent artists, from Silent Servant to Architectural, Chevel, Blawan, Luigi Tozzi, Function and Tadeo and has established itself as a reference in the Techno scene.

By developing, refining and purifying his sets, Psyk is focusing all his efforts on the concretization of the ideas that agitate his mind.

Take a deep, hypnotic and cerebral techno journey with MNMT's Paula Koski, who joins us for the 253rd edition of Global Vibe Radio!

Paula Koski has carved out a niche for herself with a multifaceted sound that ranges from ambient to experimental to richly layered, hypnotic and mental techno. Finland-born but Berlin-based Paula projects her sense of aesthetics and composition into non-verbal tensional sound creations, that are always emblazoned with a clear common thread. 

The past months Paula has been shifting her focus on the more driving style of techno, with the peak time dance floors on her mind. Paula is a resident artist and musical curator of techno collective, festival and event series @monument-podcast, and this position gives her a kaleidoscopic perspective on contemporary techno.
