Fuga Ronto's second release Greatest Treasure is a musical journey exploring different kinds of territories by blending elements of synth funk, dub, fusion, new wave and ambient with household noises, reverb vocals and quotes from movies to adventure games. Out of playful recording sessions the Zurich duo Schweizer and Shiller created songs with track names that read like movie titles. The treasure quest begins with a tongue-in-cheek intro before the title track kicks in. It’s all about exotic boogie with adventurous lyrics and voodoo magic. The rhythm guitar, percussion and multilingual chanting driven single „Falling Star“, lures even unathletic feet onto the dancefloor. "Columbo De Domingo“, a rolling instrumental based on a four chord sequence creates an illusional staircase moment. The tracks on the B-side guide towards slower and dreamier attempts. "Mirror To Water" builds on swaying synth pads that lead up to a laid-back song with breathy male and female vocals over a shuffling drum beat. It’s epilogue "Wobble In The Pool" sticks to the mood and takes the sounds further into dubby lands. The closing chapter "Mystery Of Zambio" is a delightful two- parter. Nostalgic melodies take the lead at first to be replaced by chords and a choir in the second part, until they dance away into the fade-out. Maybe a hint for a continuation of the story? One would hope so.

Funny story: while zapping through TV this summer, I came across the video clip of this 1996 hit by French pop singer Zazie and immediately felt the potential of its surprisingly dreamy, breakbeat instru ✨

So here is an edit mixing both instrumental versions with and without choirs, playing around with percussion loops and female choirs to give a dancefloor twist to this pop track 🕺

The eighth installment in the Lyssna Records catalog, "Searching" EP, comes from Icelandic producer Ohm. For this occasion, Ohm teamed up with friends and long-time collaborators "Octal Industries" and "TM Shuffle" to create a beautiful and ominous six-track EP. 

Our premiere for today, "Zona 1," sees Ohm joining forces with another producer from Iceland, Octal Industries. Icelandic connection worked like a charm in this case and delivered a beautiful groovy deep house endeavor. Even though the most prominent part of "Zona 1" is the groove, the real beauty is happening in the background, where lush pads serve as a foundation for two sequences that marvelously blend and create a wonderful "cosmic summer" atmosphere. 
Zona 1 and the rest of the Searching EP are coming out on February 25th via Stockholm-based Lyssna Records.

As one of the most prolific artists in the scene over the last 10 years, he has become an essential voice in the often crowded conversation: he is someone who always speaks clearly and captivatingly and has done so via more than ten full length albums and more than 30 EPs on labels like @delsinrecords, @clone-nl, @2020visionrecordings, @echocord and his own label @transcendent-records. With this performances he focusses on musical content rather than equipment. The digital/analogue dichotomy of his productions spread into these sets, always stressing the importance of the human element without shying away from technology’s advances at the same time as marrying genuine emotional depth with dance floor compatibility.

Dusk Delay 015 - Lord Of The Isles

During summer lockdown 2021, it was forbidden to have dancing at parties. And so when exemplary north-east London record shop Hidden Sounds asked me to DJ at a sitting-down event, it seemed like the perfect workaround, and a wonderful excuse to explore some deep corners of my record collection. 
Think blankets, incense, rugs, chess, cushions, fungi, tea and 50 people laying around in a cosy space for a psychedelic, horizontal, evening listening session - pure bliss!

Shroom Sessions at Hidden Sounds August 6 2021

Space Dimension Controller is the moniker of Jack Hamill, it is a moniker which has served him well over many years having released some of the most innovative, unique and exciting electronic music of the past decade.

Originally from Belfast, he has drawn upon inspiration from 80’s funk, neon lights, video games and beyond – blurring the lines between influences to create cutting edge dance music with one foot in the past and a one in the future. He has released arguably some of the best ‘dance’ albums of this generation and has appeared on pivotal labels such as Ninja Tune, Royal Oak and Dekmantel.


 
Whilst some of his music is cinematic by nature, his recent focus has been towards the clubs having been releasing material most prominently through his own recently launch label Tiraquon Records.

This has since been expanded upon with his latest outing coming in the form of an EP for Will Saul’s longstanding AUS Records.

As a DJ you never quite know what to expect from a Space Dimension Controller set – this is perhaps a testament to his vast, sprawling musical knowledge and keen desire to connect the dots between styles and genres.
