Thy Darkened Shade are those few who have the wisdom to overcome, the sovereignty to become something evolved, in the forms and likeness of their gods. Across Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet's 78-minute runtime, many names are hailed, amongst them - Satan, Loki, Typhon, Set, Ahriman, Lucifer, Prometheus, Kingu - and the band explore myriad routes toward that burning, searing illumination. But as labyrinthine as Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet is and its pathways at times beguiling and treacherous, here black metal music serves a greater purpose: the Promethean mantras lead Thy Darkened Shade and the blood of Qayin binds them towards acausal freedom. THE THIRD STUDIO ALBUM FROM ONE OF THE PREMIERE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL ACTS OF RECENT TIMES, FEATURING GUEST APPEARANCES FROM DIMMU BORGIR AND 1349 MEMBERS

Mork was created by Thomas Eriksen in the town of Halden in Norway during 2004. Mork was primarily a side-project for Eriksen from inception until the debut album release in 2013, & since then the band has rightly earned their accolade as one of the top Norwegian black metal acts of recent years, receiving strong endorsements from their peers.

‘Eremittens Dal’ is Mork’s third album, and stands as a tribute to the spirit of old-school Norwegian black metal. The album is primarily inspired by the works of Darkthrone & Burzum, complete with raw production & ice-cold riffs, but with its own dynamic and atmospheric twist; stepping effortlessly between the ferocious and the melancholy. The album covers themes of hate, death, seclusion and misanthropy, both lyrically and in the way that a one-man-band makes music in solitude, perfectly fitting of the title, translated as ‘Valley of the hermit’. The suitably grim pencil cover art comes courtesy of Jannicke Wiese-Hansen, who famously made artwork for early Burzum and Satyricon releases. 

Having featured guest vocals from none other than Darkthrone’s Nocturno Culto on their previous album, ‘Eremittens Dal’ includes special guest appearances from Dimmu Borgir's Silenoz who contributes vocals on two tracks, plus additional bass parts from 1349's Seidemann. ‘Eremittens Dal’ was recorded at Rottehullet Studio in Halden, Norway. It was mixed by Freddy Holm at Kleiva Studio & mastered at Enormous Door in the US (Darkthrone’s The Underground Resistance & Arctic Thunder).

This edition of 'Eremittens Dal' will be released CD presented in a digipack packaging complete with a 16-page booklet. Though Mork is essentially a solo-project, a full live line-up has been established, where the band has already played throughout Europe and parts of North America, plus famously a recent show in Izmir, Turkey, following in the footsteps of the legendary Mayhem.

Katatonia was formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse. Their debut album, ‘Dance of December Souls’, was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for their eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal and joining acts such as Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride as one of the genre’s defining bands. On future albums a newer, sleeker Katatonia sound came to the fore, starting with a streamlined and structured collection of melodic dark rock songs that became third album ‘Discouraged Ones’; the main evolution point for modern day Katatonia.

‘For Funerals to Come’ is an incredibly rare piece of death/doom metal mastery from back in 1994, which was recorded following Katatonia’s debut album, ‘Dance of December Souls’. It was recorded with Dan Swanö at the famous Unisound Studios and contains the trademarks of early era Katatonia, with the haunting guitar melodies and slow tempo combining with the tortured vocals of Jonas Renkse to create an aura of melancholy and gothic darkness.

This edition of ‘For Funerals to Come’ contains two extra tracks, ‘Black Erotica’ and ‘Love of the Swan’ (both also recorded at Unisound later in 1994), which had previously appeared on an obscure compilation, and contains new liner notes from co-founding member, writer & guitarist, Anders Nyström.
