In the last day i rediscovered my old Yamaha DTXpress 3 electronic drumset and his sounds. This instruments made in 2004 it's a standard mid-level e-drums with rubber pads and a little tweakable PCM sound. I never been a big fan of it's sampled sounds but with a little bit of piatience and some trick from interned i made some nice kit for practice and jam. In this video i played dome jungle/drumfunk beats ove a simple sequence from my Korg Volca Beats, distorted and effected with Zoom B1on: i made two different fx presets for intro and drop then switched by hands. For technical reasons i pre recorded the Volca sequence then played over it trying to sincronize it live, in the process i added a distorted and reverbered "agogo" sample at the end of all cycles. The sound of DTXpress, with a little of post production it's quite dynamic and expressive, maybe not like VST like Addictive drums or similar but have zero latency so i'm fine with it :D

Another jam with Pajen Firmware on Korg Volca Sample. This upgrade mades the Samples really fun and i find the probability based sequencer really interesting. I loaded a bounch of chopped old school jungle breaks and Taiko Drums in order to get a Photek style touch, the Kaossilator add movement on some raw jungle beats. Enjoy!

JUNGLE JAM with KORG VOLCA SAMPLE (Pajen Firmware) and KORG KAOSSILATOR

A new gear is arriving here so as usual i need to squeeze a little my old instruments before switch to a new one. Today i used the Novation Circuit, the first groovebox i bough in order to create this channel, and the Korg Volca Keys, also the first synth of this "adult" return to machines (i used to play with the Yamaha RM1x in the first 2000s). In this Drum'n'bass jam i used the two Circuit synths for the basslines (the only thing i really don't like of this machine is the impossibility to make a sound from scratch on board, hate to plug it into a PC) using custom patches, for the drums (also my personal samples) and the Volca Keys for the pads (it's pretty limited but you can tweak the sound as you want). The result is a dark rolling dnb mixtape. I'm recently recording in multi-tracks with Allen & Heat Zedi10 on Ableton Live, so when i use two or more instruments i can make some edits like cut out the pads tails and a more accurate mixdown. Sadly the camera goes off during the performance so i added a short scene to compensate but the final part (when i switched on the camera) goes out of sync :)

DRUM and BASS MIXTAPE with NOVATION CIRCUIT and KORG VOLCA KEYS

Sometimes i like to return to my vintage cheap lo-fi Zoom ST-224 Sampletrak, a really basic sampler with a grainy sound and really limited controls. I sampled all the sounds from the Korg Volca Drum (really great samples generator) and processed on the Sampletrak using reverse, pitch, and changing sample start and and point... The Sampletrak have an onboard multi-Fx that sounds quite nice, i used the Bass Exciter on kick and some bass sounds. For the Fx i used the Korg Monotron, basic but effective analog synthetizer perfect for sci-fi style risers and sirens. Enjoy!

On the other hand, I was contacted by my good friend Daddy Kev over from Low End Theory/Alpha Pup and he said he had this Nujabes Tribute mix that he made and wanted to see what I thought of it. I listened to it on my way up to Red Bull Studios and fell in love with it and had to include it on this show. I figured since we did a Dilla Tribute that it was only right that we do a Nujabes tribute as well right? Much respect to these legends. We hope you enjoy.
