BIO:
The Icelandic band Gus Gus originally spawned from a shortcut made by Siggi Kjartansson and Stefán Árni (a.k.a. Arni & Kinski) called “Pleasure”. Initially the band was acclaimed as an avant-garde collective of musicians, producers, filmmakers and performers. They mixed together different mediums to create a unique mixture of sound and vision. Their trademark style is combined with funky bass, streamlined synths and the intelligent use of technology and art. Árni & Kinski did the visual part and the musical side was driven by Birgir Þórarinsson (a.k.a. Veiran), Stephan Stephenssen (a.k.a President Bongo), Magnús Guðmundsson (a.k.a. Herb Legowitz). The live band was fronted by singers Daníel Ágúst, Hafdís Huld and Magnús Jónsson (a.k.a. Blake).

Gus Gus is an electronic soul band formed in 1995. A short break in a making of the shortcut made it possible for the first Gus Gus self-titled album to be born. In 1996 the band signed to 4AD Records that released their widely acclaimed second album “Polydistortion”. "This Is Normal" followed in 1999 and finally "Gus Gus vs T-World" appeared in 2000. During the 4AD years, Gus Gus started touring massively, stirring the music world with their powerful live-show. The touring life was stressful for the nine some and eventually called for changes within the line up. Six original members left and the three remaining producers (Veiran, President Bongo and Herb Legowitz) soon found hope in a new female singer, Earth aka Urður Hákonardóttir. The band has ever since focused on being a musical entity. 

In 2002 Gus Gus re-appeared with their 4th studio album "Attention" which includes their most successful dance floor hit “David”. On the album the band teamed up with the legendary producer Gareth Jones and Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor. Being one of the most in-demand Techno DJs of our times, Ben Klock needs little introduction. His name has been closely associated with Berlin’s legendary club Berghain since 2005. His monthly residency has formed the backdrop to his international success, providing an invaluable platform for his ability to create a room rather than just play to it.

Much of his early career was marked by marathon sets – a signature that played a considerable role in nurturing his skills and reputation – but even the more compressed sets he shares today evidence an intricate narrative and sense of flow that defines him as a DJ. It was these inherent abilities that led him to compile the fabric 66 compilation in 2012, before winning the BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix of the Year award in 2015.

His releases on Ostgut Ton have become landmarks in the imprint’s history. 2009’s “Dawning”, the first of his collaborations with Marcel Dettmann kickstarted the label itself and remains a stand-out track in its discography. Another release of particular note is the Before One EP including “Subzero”, which many techno lovers still refer to as their gateway track into the whole genre itself. For many, however, it is his album One (2009) that best captures Klock’s talents as a producer. His skills as a remixer have also seen him rework tracks by a wide variety of artists, including Kerri Chandler, Depeche Mode, Robert Hood and Kenny Larkin.

Additionally, Klock curates with great passion his own label Klockworks, founded in 2006. With releases from DVS1, Stef Mendesidis, The Advent, Sterac, Etapp Kyle, Temudo and many more Klockworks became a synonym for unique, high quality Techno.

In 2017 Ben started his own event series PHOTON which is a unique concept show that blends light, architecture and music. Since then he toured PHOTON at special venues in major cities around the world such as Printworks (London), Gashouder (Amsterdam), Arca (Sao Paolo), to name a few. It quickly became a new standard for audio visual electronic music events. In 2023 the project returns after a pandemic induced break with a brand new visual and artistic concept.

Die Sängerinnen und Sänger des Philharmonischen Chores Berlin lassen zweimal in der Woche ihren Alltag hinter sich, um sich zur Chorprobe zu treffen. Unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Jörg-Peter Weigle bereiten sie sich dann auf die nächsten Konzerte vor und arbeiten weiter am beweglichen, transparenten und facettenreichen musikalischen Ausdruck, für den der Philharmonische Chor Berlin seit seiner Gründung durch Siegfried Ochs 1882 steht.

In jeder Konzertsaison präsentiert der Philharmonische Chor Berlin neben Klassikern der Chorliteratur auch weniger bekannte Werke. Ur- oder Erstaufführungen stellen weitere Höhepunkte im Programmablauf dar – dies ist seit den frühen Jahren des Chores der Fall. Anton Bruckners ,Te Deum‘ , Gustav Mahlers ,Das klagende Lied‘, ,Miletus‘ von Bernd Franke, die ,Matthäus-Passion‘ des schwedischen Komponisten Sven-David Sandström und viele andere Werke erklangen in Deutschland zum ersten Mal in Konzerten des Philharmonischen Chores Berlin. Manche in Vergessenheit geratene Werke hat der Chor wiederentdeckt: Ihm ist es zu verdanken, dass Georg Schumanns Oratorium ,Ruth‘ und die ,Große Messe‘ von Walter Braunfels, Krzysztof Pendereckis ,Polnisches Requiem‘ und Franz Schmidts ,Buch mit sieben Siegeln‘ nach Jahrzehnten wieder zu hören sind.

Den Philharmonische Chor Berlin arbeitet mit unterschiedlichen Orchestern zusammen; einigen von ihnen ist er seit vielen Jahren verbunden. Hierzu gehören das Konzerthausorchester Berlin, das Brandenburgische Staatsorchester Frankfurt, die Staatskapelle Halle und das Barockensemble Batzdorfer Hofkapelle. Viele Dirigenten luden den Chor zur Mitwirkung an ihren Konzerten ein – in der jüngeren Zeit Iván Fischer, Stefan Parkman und Michael Sanderling. Zahlreiche Solistinnen und Solisten aus dem In- und Ausland wie Ruth Ziesak, Karin Dahlberg, Ingeborg Danz, Hanno Müller-Brachmann und Christian Elsner sind regelmäßig Gast beim Philharmonischen Chor Berlin.
