MULBERRY HILL GAL tells the story of a guy who gave a country gal a lift one night on Mulberry Hill.  They got a talking and decided to go to a road side bar and both had a great connection and chemistry.  The guy is desperate to find hear and is combing Mulberry Hill to find her to profess his love for her.

Mulberry Hill Gal is an updated and reworked version of my very first song I ever wrote back in 1982.  I would like to dedicate this song to the memory of my dear friend Mr. Danny Arseneau who passed away on June 17, 2000 at the age of 38 years due to a tragic accident in his home.  Danny and I went to high school together in Chateauguay, Quebec and also attended Dawson College together for a while.  Danny later joined the Canadian Armed Forces.  
We would spend hours in our basements playing our guitars and "making noise" as our parents called it.  We actually entered my song and played it at a music talent show held at Dawson College.  It was very well received by the crowd of students and we actually won a prize for best original song.  What a great audience and time.  Hope you enjoy!

THERE'S A SPANISH TRAIN is perhaps the darkest and eeriest country-rock song ever written I would argue, because it tells the story of a ghost train that first travels east and then heads below carrying lost souls. Once you’re on board they won't let you go! My dad was a civil engineer with Canadian National Railway, designed many bridges, tunnels, stations, etc. Later in his career, he was involved with investigating deadly and tragic train accidents across Canada. A Spanish Train was lingo used by railway men for a doomed train that meet with a horrible accident and the loss of lives. This is context and inspiration for this song. I hope you enjoy. This song is dedicated to the memory of my father Valer S. Bartfay who passed away on Feb. 28, 2022.

I thought it was time for a happier song, so I dug this little 2 minute song out I wrote around 2018-2019 timeframe. Inspired by a wonderful friend oversees, that has always been such a supporter of my music. Maybe one day I will actually get that one way ticket! Life can be crazy!

Back in 2020 my little sister asked that I sing this at her wedding, as she was walking down the aisle which was a great memory. I slowed it down and changed some lyrics up in verse to make it more fitting. I hope ya'll enjoy this live take I did late last night on my old Baldwin piano. Wrote This Song To Say Goodbye Girl

I always try to make each song unique, and this one is one that has always stood out to me. An upbeat elaborate melody, and I just took a deep breath counted in four and went with it, fighting a stupid stuck key on my 60's Baldwin too lol, but I just kept going! I still love you little stuck key. The joy in all of this...is in those few minutes of a song...I'm gone from it all!

I started writing this song back in 2014-2015 timeframe when I was livin in an old garage apartment in Taylor, TX. Ever met someone where they just made everything in life so easy? I hope you enjoy this live take I did tonight, it was fun! 

The picture is a thowback from 2009 while playing at Fuel Coffee House back home in Llano, Texas.  I miss that ol Kurzweil PC88.

This one was recorded in my own AcoustaTronic style long ago. Recently resurrected the files and ReMiXed. These haunting, memorable lyrics speak just as meaningfully to The Opioid and Heroin Crisis today, as when Reznor first penned the Original. Hoping tragic losses and addictions affecting so many continue receiving all needed support, attention, and coordination in working toward the elimination of this mind-boggling situation. Dr. Wally Bartfay is a retired Professor and former Associate Dean (August, 2024) for the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.  He was also affectionately known as the “Rock N’ Prof” by his students because he often played original songs that he has written prior to the commence of lectures to create certain vibes and buzzes in his classes. His music has appeared on Euro Indie Music Chart lists top 1; World Indie Music Chart lists top 1 and 2; BWNR music list top 5, and the US Top 20 Show- Weekly Pulse of Music at No. 18. In 2024, he had 3 No. 1 Indie hits on the Euro Indie Network Music Charts and World Indie Top 100 Music Chart lists with collaborator Stephen Wrench: 1. You're My Beautiful; 2. Little Sunshine Girl and 3. Cherry Hill Gal.  Stephen has been a 6x Grammy Awardee and has won over 50 Gold and Platinum records throughout his career journey that spans 5 decades now.

Ever since Wally was a little lad, he wanted to play the electric guitar and make music that creates smiles on people’s faces. He can remember playing his imaginary electric "air guitar" in his parents’ basement to various rock and country songs for hours on end. He got his first guitar when he turned 14 after taking on various odds jobs including pumping gas on weekends and cutting lawns.  He quickly learned to play it on his very own, along with several other instruments. Wally has also done research related to the benefits of music therapy as a nonpharmacological intervention with patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.  He got interested in researching the clinical benefits of music as medicine after his father was diagnosed with vascular dementia following a series of strokes that left him bed bound in a nursing home.  Ironically, this is the same nursing home that he used to put on volunteer Christmas concerts for during his youth in his community. He is passionate about song writing and his songs often reflect personal experiences and challenges that he has faced over the years. Each song contains components of his genuine lived experiences, heart, and soul as an artist.
