Usually organizations where companies usually work two jobs, ie basic jobs and certain jobs. In a large company and the tolerance limits short work then use the matrix. Another reason to avoid a clash between the basic work and specific jobs that must be completed both with better.In the matrix form, going on the relationship between the various functions. The Matrix organizational structure in my view works best in projects management large/small.  Where spontaneous decision-making may be a thin line between creating opportunity and efficiency, versus lost business. A matrix organizational structure works better in large organizations, than do small ones. Large organizations with diverse product-lines, with various functions teams may require to work cooperatively to achieve maximum potential and efficiency. Makes it feasible for a matrix system for more face-to-face interaction for easy decision-making.  My organization is small. Most decisions especially large-ones come from the top.  The organizational structure and culture is said to be a hierarchical one. Where rules flow top-down, with the general focus on individual productivity.  In this system increasing the bottom-line and growth is crucial with side-effects that may hinder culture and empowerment. Makes difficult for lower level managers to achieve goals effectively.
