Edition #1 documents Hip Hop’s birth on wax and its formative years, 1979-1983, from the disco and boogie influenced sound of the late 70s through to the drum machine led tracks of the early 80s.

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Part 2 of this first edition in the series documents Hip Hop’s progression through the years 1984 to 1987, an era in which the dominant sound of Hip Hop changed drastically with the increasing popularity of drum machine programmed beats and early sampling technology. This mix leans quite heavily toward sample based material from the latter part of that era.

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Edition #2 of this mixtape series pays tribute to the Hip Hop of 1988, a year which many consider the ‘golden year’ of the late 80s. As samplers took over from drum machines as the producer’s tool of choice, the James Brown drum sound ruled supreme and lyrical subject matter explored new territory. With seminal (and at the time controversial) album releases from the likes of Public Enemy and NWA, this was a year that changed hip hop forever. In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Edition #3 of this mixtape series pays tribute to the Hip Hop of 1989, another year in which the genre’s dominant sounds changed drastically. As the James Brown influenced sound that had dominated the late 80s played out its final days, a new wave of acts including De La Soul burst on to the scene injecting a light hearted honesty into their lyrical content which paved the way for the emerging ‘new school’ sound of the early 90s. Early releases from the likes of X Clan hinted at the ‘afrocentric’ sound that would come to prominence in the following years. Artwork pays homage to classic late 80s imprint 'Cold Chillin'.

I would like to take this opportunity to greet you warmly and have great news for you!
 
I've wanted to release my new album for a long time, but numerous other projects have taken a lot of my time. Now the “new album” project is in the final phase. And what should I say? Because of my hard work, the bubbling wealth of strange sound ideas, and the incredible help and support of my dearest friends and family, the “new album” project has become a three-part project.
 
Album "The Vault" - release date on May 5th, 2024, 22 x songs
 
Album "The Golden" - release date approximately June 5th, 2024, 22 x songs
 
Album "The Funky Wheelbarrow" - release date approximately August 4th, 2024, 10 x songs (pure rare groove, funky breaks and live performance funk)
 
I would especially like to thank my family, the chaotic people on the turntables and my best buddy and DJ friend Daniel aka Sam Spade for your help, support, trust and love.
 
I have taken another leap in development, absorbed constructive criticism and created a musical milestone for you with my heart and love for breaking culture. Even if the German break DJ scene doesn't really stick together, at least it's the individual contributions that keep the community alive. Unfortunately, so many break DJs still adorn themselves with other people's feathers, because "Digging in the Crates", if anything, is unfortunately not everything.
 
The next three albums are musically filled with real rockets, you have to have that much self-confidence, and many songs have already been tested in international battles. The cross-genre variety of sounds and the detailed wealth of ideas in every single song should bring you a lot of fun breaking and listening. Just have fun with it!
