This sound system haunted our dreams, since they packed it up at Swan Wharf. Came with high hopes and open minds for our first Sunday at the Hackney Wick Baths. What started as a soulful afternoon selection escalated slowly into a rolling dance. A few asked since if it was recorded and - luckily - this time we got the sucker. 

If you were there, thanks for joining us and hope you enjoy the playback as much as we have. If you weren’t, hope you catch the glow of this wonderful setup. Blended with *ahem* human touch on 2 modified Technics and an ISO420 mixer, deeper into the night than we’d expected, under the shimmers of their famous mirrorball.

The truly lovely Matt A.K.A Suite Pastiche dresses us up in a soundtrack fit for all seasons. We had the pleasure of partaking amongst a lively afternoon crowd at Waxflower which welcomed both rain and sunshine. Settle in for a selection of jazz, AOR, Dub, Lovers Rock, worldly African, and Boogie.

Suite Pastiche is a Melbourne-based community dance party for social intercourse, sonic bathing, and somatic expression.

Of all the mixes I've ever made, my last Bar Part Time Mix is easily the one I come back to the most. So when I was given the chance to join the prestigious "BPT Two Timers Club" I wanted to do something cool. For this mix the original goal was to keep the same energy as the last one but in that process I think I created something entirely new. Do you know Jamie Bennett? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t, maybe you heard one of your friends whisper: “That’s the Crown Ruler guy." One thing is undoubtedly true – Australia’s music scene wouldn’t be the same without Jamie’s influence. The wonderful Crown Ruler brand has exerted its influence throughout the country and far beyond. If this is news to you, start looking a little closer to home and you’ll spot the clues.

We’ll keep this intro brief – a cheeky web-surf will provide plenty of thoughtful write ups on the man’s roots. We think Jamie’s an incredible DJ. A trove of aural excellence comes through in this mix; Lovers rock, sun-kissed gems, and plenty of soulful rarities from all corners. It’s a little less about genre and a little more about mood.

When we joked with Jamie that the cost of the records in this mix alone must be his retirement fund, he slyly shot back: "That's my super." It’s hard to explain the effort, the research, and even the resources that go into pulling together the sort of collections that are at the heart of a mix like this. Perhaps that’s a little digger-to-digger nod, a silent sign of appreciation at the incredibly impractical art of carting around bags and bags of records in this day and age.

Our admiration goes beyond knowing the work involved. Hearing and experiencing Jamie’s talent through Waxflower’s speakers was, for us, a thing of joy. And at the heart of it all is Jamie’s love of music. We were honoured to have him play on the wheels at Wax. Music and Human connection, Enjoy!
