*Update: Marcel Wave is MM Lyle of A Terrible Splendour, a synthwave post-punk project, with all the romanticism and doomed fatality of the genre. Marcel Wave had a prior incarnation as a synth-based project in 2018. But this new demo is strictly garage (bass/guitar/drums), and indie, with post-punk phrasings reminiscent of Suburban Lawns, Kleenex, Dolly Mixture, etc.. VERY GOOD,

Early UK DIY, dripping in Sex Pistols glamour/desperation. "Coming in a leather rage", post-Jubilee, doomed loft-squatters, painting a picture of dissatisfied youth ("Not just seeking new sensations"). 

Awesome example of how city life informs art, plotting escape plans, speeding on roads, and making fashion statements ("The nightime screams of colorful dreams"). This is it: the eternal rebellion! Just hope that we "arrive alive on the other side".

Saving My Love

In 1923, Dr. John R. Brinkley built himself a radio station in Milford, Kansas to hawk his signature impotence cure between Bible-thumping and shows like the Shut-In Program for Invalids and Roy the Lonesome Cowboy. When the US government became leery of his goat testicle implant operations, the good doctor picked up and moved just south of the Texas border to Villa Acuna, Mexico. In this dusty Chihuahuan desert outpost, Dr. Brinkley set up XERA-AM, a “border blaster” radio station with the power to broadcast to every corner of the United States. To help him get in good with the small town folks he hoped would buy his snake oil, he hired groups like the Carter family to move down from the Virginia hills and play good, old-fashioned hillbilly music. It’s been said that while these broadcasts were blazing away inside the studio, a nearby iron gate could be angled just right to pick up that high lonesome sound. I’d like to sound something like that gate.
