Song a Week 4: Where There's Smoke There's Fire

"Sunrise" - Part five of the five movement Holy Week Piano Suite ~ Easter Sunday. I attempted to capture the solitude of that sunrise into the moment when Mary's sorrow turned into excitement and joy.  I imagine that she was walking, almost dreading the day and the task, but anticipation and excitement overtook her as she got closer and ultimately discovered the tomb was empty. Christ is risen.  He is risen indeed.

This movement concludes the musical journey that begins in Movement 1 - Palm Sunday. You'll hear a hint of the theme I used in "Lullaby for the Christ Child" resurface in this movement.  Bringing the connection between new birth and new life.
