Hypnostate's "Mind Control" is a curated compilation that marks the label's first edition, helmed by label boss Timmo. The 12-track collection features contributions from both core artists Balthazar &amp; JackRock, as well as 11 newcomers to the label.

Leading off the compilation is Timmo's "Let's Go Back," an energetic track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Balthazar &amp; JackRock's "Inner Vision" follows, delivering a mesmerizing blend of hypnotic beats and ethereal melodies.

Antonio D'Africa and Sall's "Constant-Q" is a proper peak-time weapon, with its driving rhythms and relentless energy. "Love 1952" by Stoked offers a different perspective with a nostalgic and emotional touch.

TimiR's "Back To The" and Bj&oslash;rnson's "Wrong Answer" both showcase the label's diversity and willingness to take creative risks. Ba&uuml;s &amp; Unlighted's "Infiltrate" and Masino's "Talk About Us" both deliver on the label's promise to bring new and exciting sounds to the techno genre.

"Your Love" and "Modulate" by TimiR and Jarrod Graeme respectively, show the label's ability to seamlessly blend different styles and influences. SUDO's "My Time" and Julian Mesa's "Esme" round off the compilation with a groovy and upbeat touch.

Overall, "Mind Control" is a well-rounded and cohesive compilation that showcases the label's mission to push boundaries and introduce new artists to the techno scene.

Closing the EP is an Intro track called Sippin’ Intro which builds the tension with its atmospheric sounds and vocals.

Its masterfully layered drum patterns give a nod to the Kuukou label boss’ Berlin base, breeding the city’s techno influence with tight and trippy synth work to create a record that’s both familiar and beautifully progressive.
Launched in 2012, Kuukou records has served as an invaluable platform for the underground community, sharing the authentic perspectives of both established and up-and-coming artists alike. The hypnotic ‘Ping Pong Ball Gag’ sees bbbbbb recors’ Bjarki utilise squirming, bubbly percussion, quirky bleeps, and a dark vocal. It’s loopy, full of character, and marks the Icelandic artist’s debut on Chris Liebing’s CLR, following previous releases on NIX, Mute, and his own bbbbbb, a visually impressive home for underground, off-kilter techno.

Bjarki’s ‘Ping Pong Ball Gag’, initially produced in 2014 and subsequently hammered on the dancefloor by Chris Liebing until today, is an occasion which calls for a remix from Liebing himself, turning the intense droning rhythm of the original into a real warehouse stomper by infusing it with 909 claps and switching up its whirring percussion, making for a fantastic combination of elements while embracing the unpredictability of the original.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has played host to a range of artists like DEAS, Shlomi Aber, Drumcell, Truncate and more, with a focus on developing newer acts in the scene such as B. Riley, The Southern, and Klint. The imprint now adds Bjarki to its roster with a curveball, quality release we didn’t know we needed but which should be a staple in any artist’s library.

DJ Dextro’s ‘Motivo’ EP on CLR begins with the first part of the title track, in which dubby synths swish and roll between thudding kicks while sturdy claps keep the rhythm. ‘Motivo 1’ is a powerful techno tool, smooth with a deep and dreamy atmosphere and perfect for those late-night trips. ‘Motivo 2’, on the other hand, lends to the darker side of techno, its low-end bubbling among alien machines as its sequences ride and click along the drums, making for a potent and hypnotic club track.

 Active since the early ‘90s, Portuguese artist DJ Dextro lands on CLR following a vast discography on labels like UNCAGE, Planet Rhythm and Portugal’s very own Naked Lunch Records. He’s also a prolific remixer, having reworked music from artists such as The Advent, Scuba, and Drumcomplex. With the ‘Motivo’ EP, DJ Dextro shows his decades of experience with two detailed techno compositions, which rightfully find their place on Chris Liebing’s celebrated CLR imprint.

Björn Torwellen’s ‘Binary Fate’ EP kickstarts CLR’s 2025 with three pounding Techno tracks 31st January 2025.
