Raised on an African island, born and based in Lisbon, Rocky is a whirlwind of excitement and enthusiasm. She delivers high octane techno sets inspired by her diverse cultural background and passion for self-expression through music.

This four-tracker is yet another pivotal career moment for this exciting Portuguese artist, whose summer has included shows at Beachland, Free Your Mind Festival, and Dance Valley, where Pig & Dan saw her play for the first time; they loved her sound and quickly a friendship emerged over an equal love for music, resulting in them signing her to their ELEVATE imprint.

‘Rebirth’ the EP is a masterclass in old-school-influenced acid-sharpened bangers, gritty yet melodic. All four tracks mark the start of an exciting few months for Valente.

‘Unapologetic’ pulls you straight in, with a driving bass, piston-powered stabs and a scintillating top line, tied together with a soulful vocal loop. With ‘Under the Radar’, hi hats fizz through industrial clangs, building a contagious energy. ‘Background Story’ ramps up the intensity with a haunting top line and startling, scattered percussion, climbing to a peak before the pounding beat takes over. Last but not least, ‘Negotiation’ is the black sheep of this main-room-ready release. Skilfully informed with a bubbling riff and almost trance-inspired melody that juxtapose the darkness of the kick drum, this rounds off the EP on a high.

This is a fiery debut from a hot, fresh talent, bringing a whole new edge of euphoria to the ELEVATE imprint.

Rocky Valente - Unapologetic

Senso’s Oliver Huntemann revisits one of his own personal classics and breathes new life into it via a superb remix package. Tranquilizer was originally released on his 2011 album Paranoia, and is presented here in its original form to fully wet the appetite for the various remixes on offer. Tranquilizer 2.0 is Huntemann’s own re-interpretation of the track - pulling it into 2019 with a spacy sheen that might just highlight his development as a producer. German duo Hidden Empire dive right in with their rework - a tight, slick remix that goes for the jugular via a massive breakdown in the middle. Rising Serbian DJ and producer Ilija Djokovic also contributes a hard-as-nails remix that adds some sharp, precise percussion elements and draws out the tension beautifully. Last but not least, Christian Craken drops his mix, which is a taut, techno workout fitting perfectly with the atmosphere of the original.

Following the internationally celebrated release of their debut album The Signs Within in 2017, burgeoning Japanese techno duo Drunken Kong look to kick off a brand new decade in emphatic fashion, with the release of their eagerly-anticipated sophomore long player, Where We Start.

Out now via Christian Smith's esteemed Tronic Music imprint, Where We Start marks the second full-length opus from the Tokyo-based outfit, whose impressive catalogue of unique techno productions have also been homed by the likes of Terminal M, Octopus Recordings, Stil Vor Talent and Session Womb to name a few.

Featuring a total of sixteen diverse cuts, including thirteen brand new Drunken Kong originals, two recent collaborations with Mainz-based outfit Teenage Mutants and one exclusive new collab with Tronic head honcho Christian Smith, Where We Start is Drunken Kong's most extensive body of work to date, and goes a long way in showcasing the inexhaustible creativity of one of the most prolific double acts in techno right now.
